The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                  003:058

وَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيۡهِمۡ اُجُوۡرَهُمۡ‌ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏

Fa-um-mul-la-ze-na-aa-ma-noo-wa-aa-may-loos-sua-lay-haa-tay                                       Fa-yo-wuf-fe-him-o-joo-ra-hoom                                                                                                       Wul-laa-ho-laa-yo-hib-booz-za-lay-mee-n

So as regards those who believed and practiced proper acts                                  Then they will be fully paid their reward                                                                             And by God Allah does not love the wrongdoers.

  • الَّذِيۡن – La-zee-na — Those (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to the Believers)
  • اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed  (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems; entered in Islam. See Note 002:026c and our Commentaries Islam – 101 and BELIEVE and DISBELIEVE

The Holy Qor-aan has used both verbs  اٰمَنُوۡا  and  عَمِلُوا  in the past tense but many authors inaccurately translated them in the present tense or as noun [O ye who believe; one author as ‘Believers’] as shown in Note 002:026c  )
  • الصّٰلِحٰتِ — Sua-lay-haa-tay — Proper acts (= n., pl., Appropriate, befitting, correct, decent, fit, good, holy, honorable, moral, pious, proper, respectable, right righteous, upright, virtuous or worthy acts, activities, deeds, manners, operations, practices, performances, pursuits or righteousness or works. Really there is no such relationship between God and His man who is reassured of a full reward for all deeds)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid believers)
  • اُجُوۡرَ — O-joo-ra — Rewards (= pl.,. Award; deserts; good result; prize; recognition; trophy; winnings)

* Note 003;056. God’s action relative to man as stated in Note 003:056 and verses 004:159 and 006:084.

The verb ra-fa-aa ( رَفَعَ ) and other derivates of its root are used in the verses 002:254, 003:056, 004:155, 004:159, 055:008 and 079:029. It’s simple straightforward meanings are He elevated, exalted, lifted, placed or raised from a prior set, stage or status.

God’s action of ra-fa-aa relative to man meant that He gave better and higher legacy, or enlarged, expanded, extended, heightened, increased or multiplied his honor, prestige, ranks, respect or renown. A twist in these meanings created sects which now are pitted against others.

Translations of two words  مُتَوَفِّيۡ  and  رَافِعُ  vary a great deal. The following tell-tale quotes highlight the differences in some English translations.

Following tell-tale excerpts highlight the huge differences in some English translations.

  • “I will take you and raise you to myself” – Al-Hilali and Dr Khan
  • “I am ending your term on earth and lifting you up to me” – Ahmad Zidan
  • “I will take thee and raise thee to Myself” – A Yusuf Ali
  • “Cause you to die a natural death and exalt you to Myself” – Amatul R Omar
  • “Cause you to die a natural death” – Malik Ghulam Farid.
  • “Cause thee to die and exalt thee in My presence” – M Muhammad Ali.
  • Gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto Me“- M Pickthall.
  • “Cause thee to die a natural death and shall exalt thee to Myself” – M Zafrullah Khan.
  • “Cause you to die and lift you up to Me” N J Dawood

Other translations of the verse show more differences. Some may be inadvertent as many translating experts in European languages were foreigners to Arabic. But editing and duplicating earlier works shown by the dates of their first publication is apparent. Such translations created conflicting theories like Wa-faa-tay-Massih (Death of Jesus) and Ra-fa-aiy-Massih (Adoration or Exaltation of Jesus).

The discredit for massive confusion created by contradictory translation goes to Mullah. The issues funneled in such translations bred strong opinions. Those clinging to any one of them soon developed great rigidity in views and even militancy to crush all opposition. The difference in opinions soon tunneled in the formation of new sects which soon got recognized also.

** Note 003:056a. Over-simplification in translation also needs attention. An example is as Malik Ghulam Farid did in this verse. The word [جَاعِلُ  = Jaa-aiy-lo] and the following five words are translated with just one word “exalt.” Such an over-simplification runs counter to the Simple and Straightforward translation of the Holy Qor-aan which is our goal.

Death and Adoration of Jesus

The Death And Adoration Of Jesus

The verse 003:056 has used two words  مُتَوَفِّيۡ  and  رَافِعُ  and the following tell-tale quotes highlight the differences in some English translations.

  • “I will take you and raise you to myself” – Al-Hilali and Dr Khan
  • “I am ending your term on earth and lifting you up to me” – Ahmad Zidan
  • “I will take thee and raise thee to Myself” – A Yusuf Ali
  • “Cause you to die a natural death and exalt you to Myself” – Allamah Nooruddin

The root of the second word is    ر  ف  ع  .  Controversies have raged round its meanings.

  • What does the word really mean? Is it spiritual ascension or being physically lifted up?
  • Did he die on the cross a cursed death then believed? Or, was he taken of the cross alive, traveled East and is buried in Mohulla Khanyar, Sirinagar in Kashmir (India)?
  • Was Jesus physically lifted up and is alive in Heaven from where he will come down to wage the Armageddon war? Or, was he raised in ranks and granted nearness to God?

“Raf’ signifies raising the status and rank of a person and honoring him. When the Raf’ of a man is spoken of as being towards God, the meaning is invariably his spiritual ascension because God not being material or confined to any place, no physical ascension to Him is possible. The word has been used in the Qur’an in this sense (24:37 & 35:11). The raising of Jesus is mentioned in the verse under comment in reply to the false claim of the Jews that he died an accursed death on the cross” – Malik Ghulam Farid.

If there is one word to describe what has damaged Islam the most, the answer is Mullah. No wonder the Holy Prophet s.a.w had labeled Mullah of the 14th century as the Worst Of The Creatures.

003:055

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                          003:055

وَمَكَرُوۡا وَمَكَرَاللّٰهُ ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ خَيۡرُ الۡمَاكِرِيۡنَ

Wa-ma-ka-troo-wa-ma-ka-raul-la-ho-waul-laa-ho-khai-rool-maa-kay-ree-n

And they planned. And Allah planned. And by God Allah is the best Planner.

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; and; but; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَكَرُوۡا — Ma-ka-roo — They planned (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. The enemies or persecutors of Jesus designed, devised, fashioned, plotted or schemed to crucify him. See Note 003:055)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; and; but; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَكَرَ —  Ma-ka-ra..(ul) — Planned (= v., past., s., 3rd person., Allah designed, devised, fashioned, plotted or schemed to save Jesus. See Note 003:055)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= The وَ  vaao is tantamount to taking oath; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. Normally a Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; and; but; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • خَيۡرُ — Khai-ro…(ol) — Best (= At apex; best; supreme; top. Comparatively better,  superior or of greater, higher or more value)
  • الۡمَاكِرِيۡنَ — Maa-kay-ree-n — Planners (= n., pl., Those who design, devise, fashion, plot or scheme. See Note 003:055)

Note 003:055: This root carries multiple meanings. When used for a human being, it is any act to conspire, design, devise, engineer, fashion, fabricate, manufacture, plan, plot or scheme something bad, secretly  or underhanded. But its use relative to the Almighty God means His acts that defeat any bad activity by man.

Prophecy about Aviation

Prophecy about Aviation

Nuclear Energy, Wi-Fi etc foretold 33 yrs before Christ was put on Cross

I have heard frequently that ‘No more interpretation of the Holy Qor-aan is possible as all of it had been done and completed by’ the Eighth Century AD. Such fallacies have been repeatedly demolished by eminent translators like Mirza Mahmood Ahmed, r.a. Forecasts in the verses of the Holy Qor-aan have proved true by streaming examples. We see those Rules of Universal Application all over in science, medicine, technology and every branch of human endeavor.

Suez and Panama canals have linked oceans. Huge ships plow through seas like floating mountains. Molten metal, radiation, poisonous gases and Nuclear bombs have destroyed life in a big way. Fast transportations facilitate ordinary travel. Many modern inventions were not even dreamt of by the said 8th Century. The Holy Qor-aan warned man of many catastrophes. Mullah nevertheless fabricated self-serving theories, orchestrated ignorance and thrust it upon Man.

Several verses of the Holy Qor-aan are interpreted as the forecasts of coming events. A Prophet or Messenger of Allah is called a Nabee (060:013) in the Arabic.  The root ا ب ن   expresses giving advance information of a coming event (003:016). A pinpointed application of a forecast to a past event is easy but at best is just an example. Really the events in future will keep occurring and illustrating prophesied divine revelations – again and again in many shapes.

Jesus son of Mary was also inspired to forecast a Sign. It was to occur with the Almighty God’s permission [بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰهِ‌‌  = Bay-iz-nillah = per plan of Allah]. At that time many people didn’t visualize a miraculous sign that could change the whole world. A sign is a manifestation, corroboration, evidence, indication, portent, proof, revelation or token (003:050). Such a Sign did happen and led man to a new kind of life.

The sign Jesus forecast was about things which no man before him knew. It told that he through his followers would create things that by then had not even been imagined. It talked of the future , and centuries later the inventions in every walk of life impacted Mankind. Advances in knowledge have tremendously benefitted man everywhere. Knowledge, aviation, transport and communications have changed the way people lived before, live now and will live in future.

The Sign [called “quite incomprehensible” by M Muhammad Ali] had several parts. In its first part Jesus son of Mary was going to do the following.

  • He was [and his followers in the future were] going to [اَخۡلُقُ = Ukh-lo-qo =Design] bring into being, create and fashion SOMETHING …
  • From [مِّنَ = May-na…(ut) = From] the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of …
  • The Earthen Materials [الطِّيۡنِ = Tee-nay = Earth] including clay, dust, earth, minerals and other raw materials used to change, mold or make fabric, plastic and things that would receive an impress …
  • Which would Look Like [كَهَیْـــَٔةِ = Ka-hai-aa-tay = Resemble], be identical and similar to and have the form, figure, appearance and shape of …
  • A Bird [الطَّيۡرِ = Tai-ray = a creature] that could take off, fly and land with wings spread out. But the birds have life and energy that continually replenishes with blood that runs through their bodies, but man-made things don’t have life.
  • So the energy [  فَاَنۡفُخُ فِيۡهِ = Un-fo-kho-fee-hay = I will breathe into it] was to come from blowing, inserting or putting in a new spirit or source that man at that time neither knew nor like his breath could see or touch. Centuries later man harnessed Earthen Materials. As of today we get energy from oil, electricity, nuclear, water, sun, wind and many And who knows what will be the form or sources of energy tomorrow.
  • Now we see that lifeless creature energized, take off, fly and land with its wings spread out like a bird. The use or abuse of inventions like airplanes, missiles, satellites, flying computers or drones depends upon Man. He can swiftly reach moon, safely fly faster than sound, or drop atom bombs as he did in 1945 over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The second part of that Sign also changed the life of man forever.

  • Today blind can see, lepers get cured, and to see a plague or small-pox patient a rarity. Reduced infancy mortality and elimination of many formerly fatal diseases is daily life. Disease knowledge, researched drugs and healing stories are too many to tell here.
  • I heard of a report in a medical journal. A man was drowned in Mississippi river. Over 1/2 hour later his body was recovered. Found and pronounced dead he was taken to the morgue and put on a table. The attendant went to run some errand and closed the morgue door behind. About 30 minutes later when the morgue door was opened, the dead-man was found sitting on the table. Later scientific determination was that the closed door of the morgue with a lot of oxygen had rejuvenated his body that start the breathing.
  • Similar revivals after years of comas and stupors are part of the medical literature today.

The third part of the sign among other possibilities is reflected in the modern innovations of computers, wireless operations and remote-controlled Wi-Fi orchestration. The access to hidden secrets and private affairs is available without too many limitations. Kinds of food, eating habits and accumulated statistical data is being used for constructive and opposite purposes. The Chip, forensic technology and spying through installed audio-video bugs are a routine — for industrial espionage and national and international good or nefarious goals.

All above was not known to Man when Jesus was born. But Man following his birth did invent things which have changed his life forever.
