وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوۡسٰٓى اِلٰى قَوۡمِهٖ غَضۡبَانَ اَسِفًا ۙ قَالَ بِئۡسَمَا خَلَفۡتُمُوۡنِىۡ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِىۡ ۚ اَعَجِلۡتُمۡ اَمۡرَ رَبِّكُمۡ‌ ۚ وَاَلۡقَى الۡاَلۡوَاحَ وَاَخَذَ بِرَاۡسِ اَخِيۡهِ يَجُرُّهٗۤ اِلَيۡهِ‌ؕ قَالَ ابۡنَ اُمَّ اِنَّ الۡـقَوۡمَ اسۡتَضۡعَفُوۡنِىۡ وَكَادُوۡا يَقۡتُلُوۡنَنِىۡ ‌ۖ  فَلَا تُشۡمِتۡ بِىَ الۡاَعۡدَآءَ وَ لَا تَجۡعَلۡنِىۡ مَعَ الۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa  laum-maa  ra-ja-aa  moo-saa  aiy-laa
Qao-may  he  ghauz-baa-na  aa-say-faun

Qaa-la  baye-sa  maa
Kha-lauf-to-moo nee  min  bau-d  ee
Aa  aa-jil  toom  aum-ra  raub-bay  koom

Wa  aul-qa  ul-aul-waa-ha  wa  aa-kha-za  bay  rau-say
Aa-khee  hay  ya-joor-ro  hoo  aiy-lai  hay

Qaa-la  ub-na    oom-ma  in-na  ul  qao-ma
Aus-taudz-aa-foo  nee  wa  kaa-noo  yauq-to-loo-na  nee
Fa  laa  toosh-mit  bay  yaul-au-daa-aa  wa  laa
Tauj-aul  nee  ma-aa  ul-qao-may  iz-zaa-lay-mee-n 

 

And surely when Moses returned to
His people very angry and sad

He said, “Evil is all that
You did representing me after I was gone.
Did you hurry to fill the dwill of your God?

And he put down the Tablets and
Caught his brother with the hair on his head
Pulling him (Aaron) to himself (Moses).   

He (Aaron) said, “My mother’s son! People surely
Took me as weak and were near killing me.
So do not please the enemies with me humiliateid
And do not join me with the wrong-doing people.”

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; moreover; though; when; whereupon; while; yet)
  • لَمَّا —  Laum-maa — Surely when (= This combines two words. First word  لَ  (=la) means absolutely, certainly, positively, surely, truly or verily. The second word  ما  (= maa) means any time, at such time, when and whenever. A/t/a, ‘when’)
  • رَجَعَ — Ra-ja-aa  — Returned (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived. Came back. Returned. Reverted. Revisited)
  • مُوۡسٰى — Moo-saa — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a, ‘Musa (Moses)’
  • اِلَى — Aiy-laa  — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘unto’)
  • قَوۡمِ —  Qao-may — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; nation; party; people; tribe)
  • هٖ –He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to Moses)
  • غَضۡبَانَ — Ghauz-baa-na — Angry (= adj., Angry Annoyed. Cross. Enraged. Fuming. Furious. Incensed. Infuriated. Irate. Irritated. Livid. Maddened. Wrathful. Wroth. Wrothful. A/t/a, ‘angry,’ ‘wrathful’ ‘full of indignation,’ ‘full of anger’ and ‘indignant’)
  • اَسِفًا — Aa-say-faun — Sad (= adj, Disappointed. Dejected. Down. Forlorn. Gloomy. Miserable. Sad. Sorrow. Unhappy. Woeful. A/t/a, ‘and grief,’ ‘grieved,’ ‘sorrowful’ and ‘sorrow’)
  • قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Announced; called; conveyed;    declared; said; stated or told. See 002:031a. A/t/a, ‘he shouted at them’)
  • بِئۡسَ  — Baye-sa — Evil (= adj., Appalling; awful; bad, base, calamitous; debauched; depraved; dire; dreadful; evil; ghastly; horrific; immoral; ominous; penitent; regretful; ruinous; sad; shocking; sorry; terrible; unbearable; unacceptable; undesirable; unfortunate; unpleasant; unpleasant; vile; wicked; worst; wretched. A/t/a, ‘how evil is’and ‘What an evil thing is’)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= All that; what; whatever; whatsoever. See Note 004:067. A/t/a,  ‘that,’‘that which,’ ‘that (course) which,’ ‘that when you have done (i.e., worshipping the calf)’ and ‘it is’)
  • خَلَفۡتُمُوۡ  — Kha-lauf-to-moo– You did representing (= v., past., pl., 2nd person. You acted or did on behalf of. You represented. You performed instead of. A/t/a, ‘you have done,’ ‘ye have done in … place,’ ‘you did in … place,’ ‘during … absence,’ ‘you adopted in … place’ and ‘ye took’)
  • نِىۡ  — Nee — Me (= pro., s., m & f., 1st person)
  • مِنۡ  —  Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kinds, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘in’)

A/t/a, ‘could … not patiently wait.’ But ‘hasten on,’ ‘an attempt  to hasten,’ ‘make haste,’ ‘seek to hasten on … (for punishment),’ ‘you hasten to devise a way for yourself without waiting for,’ ‘hasten’ and ‘hasten and go ahead as regards’ in the present tense are no translations of the past tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)
  • تُمۡ  — Toom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all)
  • اَمۡرَ — Aum-ra — Will (= n., Affair. Decision. See Note 002:211. A/t/a, ‘the command,’ ‘the judgment,’ ‘the Commandment of,’ ‘the retribution,’ ‘to bring on the judgment of’ and ‘the matter of’)   
  • رَبِّ — Raub-bay — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all creatures. Cherisher. Creator. Guardian. Lord Provident. Master. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we  and all other creatures need to live and subsist. See 001:002. A/t/a, ‘Lord (you left His worship)?’)
  • كُمۡ  –Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You men)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses. See  وَ   above)
  • اَلۡقَى — Aul-qaa — He put down (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Cast. Displayed. Gave. Placed. Presented. Put in front. Showed. Threw. A/t/a, ‘He threw down’ and ‘he cast down’)
  • الۡاَلۡوَاحَ — Aul-waa-ha — Tablets (= n., pl., Bars. Blocks. Plaques. Slabs)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses. See  وَ   above)
  • اَخَذَ — Aa-kha-za — Caught (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Captured. Caught. Got hold of.  Grabbed. Seized. Took. See 003:082. A/t/a,  ‘caught hold of’ and ‘took hold.’ But the present tense in the ‘catching hold of’ and ‘seizing’ has not translated the present tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= The best translation of the word بِ is with. A/t/a, ‘by’)
  • رَاۡسِ –Rau-say — Head (= n., s., Head. Highest and most conspicuous part of the  human body. A/t/a, ‘the hair of … head,’ ‘(the hair of) … head’ and ‘the hair’)
  • اَخِيۡ — Aa-khee — Brother (= n., s., Son of the same one or both parents. A/t/a,  ‘brother (Aaron, who was entrusted to carry out Moses’s mission in his absence)’
  • هِ — Hay  — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Ref is to the aforesaid. Moses)
  • يَجُرُّ — Ya-joor-ro — Pulling (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Bringing. Dragging. Drawing.  Hauling. Heaving. Pulling. A/t/a, ‘started pulling’ and ‘dragging.’ But ‘dragged’ in the past tense is no translation of the present tense in the Holy  Qor-aan text)

  • قَا لَ — Qaa-la … (ub) — He said (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Said. Stated. See  قَا لَ  above. A/t/a, ‘pleaded,’ ‘Harun (Aaron) said,’ ‘Aaron said,’ ‘He (Aaron) said’ and ‘cried Aaron’)
  • ابۡنَ — Aub-na — Son (= n., s., Male issue of [one or both] parents)
  • اُمَّ — Oom-ma — Mother (= n. The woman who procreates life. Refers to the mother of the speaker Moses. Ref is to Aaron. A/t/a, ‘my mother’)
