Holy Qor-aan 002:022
يٰۤـاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعۡبُدُوۡا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَالَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُوۡنَ ۙ
Yaa-auy-yo-ha un-naa-so u-bo-doo raub-ba ko-mo
Aul-la-ze kha-la-qa koom
Wa au-la-ze-na min qaub-lay koom
La aul-la-koom taut–ta-qoo-n
Listen, People! Worship your Lord God
Who created you
And those before you
So that you become pious.
The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-haun-naa-so … in many places
- يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; listen; pay attention; O!)
- اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha … (un) — You all (= All addresses; entire or whole of the audience)
- النَّاسُ — Naa-so .. .(u) –The people (= n., Factions; folks, mankind, groups of men, nations or tribes. Human beings. All people regardless of color, creed, culture or country of origin)
- اعۡبُدُوۡا — Ou-bo-doo — You worship (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Beseech; live in the given lifestyle; pay homage; pray sincerely; praise. serve)
- رَبَّ — Raub-ba — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Lord Provident; Master; The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
- کُمُ — Ko-mo … (ol) — Your (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
- الَّذِىۡ — Au-laa-ze — He who (= s., m., 3rd person. That one article, person, phenomenon or thing. Here the word refers to God Almighty)
- خَلَقَ — Kha-la-qa — He created (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Brought into being; created; designed; fashioned; formed; originated; produced; shaped. Made from scratch out of nothing before and gave forms and faces in due proportions)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. See کُمُ above)
- وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- الَّذِيۡنَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those aforesaid articles, persons, phenomenon or things)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kinds, things, persons or phenomenon)
- قَبۡلِ — Qaub-lay– Before (= adv., Aforetime. Ahead. Beforehand. Earlier, former, older, past or prior What happened or occurred in an earlier time or prior period, antecedently, historically and previously)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. See کُمُ above)
- لَعَلَّ — La-aul-la — So that (= Haply; hopefully; perchance; perhaps; possibly; hope and wish that the result will be; maybe)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. See کُمُ above)
- تَتَّقُوۡنَ — Taut-ta-qoo-na — You be pious (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Avoid angering Allah. Be God-fearing, pious and righteous. Clean inner self. Do duty to God. Guard against or ward off evil’. See Commentary The Righteous for many other differently worded meanings)
