The Holy Qor-aan 106:001 to 005
Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with a 6-digit number; the first three digits tell of Soorah (Chapter) and the last three digits tell of verse. Numbering includes بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ as verse #1 in every Soorah except Soorah #9. The phonetic transliteration in English is based upon words commonly pronounced as bat, cat, sat → fate, gate, hate → bait, trait → bay, nay, say → be, he, she → bet, pet, wet → bit, fit, sit → cot, dot, rot → boot, hoot, root → bout, rout → but, cut, hut, rut. An Arabic letter with the vowel Fatah is best shown with a‘u’ as in cut, hut, rut, but letter ‘a’ is often placed before ‘u’ to make it doubly sure that it is read as in cause, pause, clause and not with a sound of ‘oo’ as in hoot, root, shoot or put. All Arabic words are translated in American English and are followed by alternates which other translators have used.

*Note 106:003. The Qoraish were merchants who traded in the goods that reached the Makkah market. Among them before the advent of Islaam was a rich widow named Kho-de-ja who was a trader. In her business pursuits she was looking for an honest worker and heard of a truly honest man. She contacted Mohammed s.a.w who was later recognized in the world as the Holy Prophet s.a.w. She knew what goods had abundant supply in Makah and a demand in the North. She also knew what goods had abundant supply in North and a high demand in Makkah. She hired him to take her goods from Makkah to North and bring back northern merchandise. The profit from the round-trips and the honest account of all buying and selling dealings profited her business and later won her heart. She proposed to marry him and became his first wife.
Later on he invited his tribe as his initial audience for the delivery of his message. He professed that there was only One God and the 365 statutes in Kau-bah were not Gods. He told them not to worship the statutes one every day of the year as they were not Gods. Later on the revelation of this chapter they were reminded of previous incidents as evidence. This example was made perpetual as a lasting precedent to show how divine rules applied. This and the prior Soorah impress that when God blesses then people should acknowledge. The best way was and forever will remain is to express gratitude by worshiping One Allah.
Some translations have linked this Soorah as the result and the previous Soorah as the cause. They conjectured that God destroyed the owners of elephants in order to benefit the tribe, Qoraish. They further surmised that it was done to make the Qoraish attached to travel summer or winter. The argument was coined to augment fabrication that parts of the Holy Qor-aan are now obsolete. Punjab High Court of Pakistan recorded that investigation in its Judicial Inquiry and Report (1954). It recorded the testimony of Moslem scholars who claimed that its nearly 800 verses are obsolete. Such allegation would make these two Soorah merely a record of a past occurrence in the history. Those scholars implied the contents of the two Soorah of little use today per Abrogation Theory.
We at this site vehemently reject the sacrilege of calling or treating any part of the Holy Qor-aan as abrogated and nullify nearly 800 verses or 16% of the Divine word. We believe that every word of the Holy Qor-aan as revealed is applicable today and will remain so for ever after. The proponents of abrogation theory really hide their own ignorance and inability to correctly profess, promote, practice and preach the whole of the Holy Qor-aan and Iss-laam.
Indeed it was God’s blessing on Qoraish that they were established as the ‘contemporary kings of trade’ through their year-long safe commercial travels. They were urged to be grateful. Logical extension of this precedent is to all humans. When God blesses people they should be grateful. It behooves them to make special effort to worship Him — by appreciating, thanking, extolling and praising Him, and not by going the opposite way.
