The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                   007:148

 

وَالَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَلِقَآءِ الۡاٰخِرَةِ حَبِطَتۡ اَعۡمَالُهُمۡ‌ؕ هَلۡ يُجۡزَوۡنَ اِلَّا مَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ

 

 Wa  ul-la-ze-na  kauz-za-boo  bay  aa-yaa-tay  naa
Wa  lay-qaa-aiy  il-aa-khay-ra-tay
Ha-bay-taut  aa-maa-lo  hoom
Haul  yooj-zao-na  il-laa
Maa  kaa-noo  yau-ma-loo-n

 

And those who belied Our signs
And the meeting in the Hereafter
Destroyed are  their good deeds.
Can they be rewarded except for
All that they have been doing?

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; but; moreover; though; when; whereupon; while)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to the articles, persons, or phenomenon or things)
  • كَذَّبُوۡا — Kauz-za-boo — Belied (= v., past. pl., 3rd person. Accused, charged or treated as  liars. Belied; contradicted; denied; derided, denounced, disowned, disproved; falsified; opposed, mistreated, misrepresented, negated; rejected. See 002:040. A/t/a, ‘who disbelieve,’ ‘reject,’ ‘cry lies,’ ‘deny’ but verbs in the present tense are no translations of the Holy Qor-aan text in the past tense)
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= The best translation of the word  بِ  is with. A/t/a, ‘in’ and ‘to’)
  • اٰيٰتِ — Aa-yaa-tay — Signs  (= n., pl of … An argument, command, code, corroboration    direction, evidence, indication, instruction, law, lesson,  message, narrative, order, pointer, portent, proof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘messages,’ ‘revelations’ and ‘Ayat’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Ours; Us)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases. See  وَ   above)
  • لِقَآءِ — Lay-qaa-aiy … (l)– Meeting (= n., Coming face to face; encounter; getting together;  meeting; sitting down; visiting.. A/t/a, ‘encounter’ and ‘life’)
  • الۡاٰخِرَةِ — Aa-khay-ra-tay — The Hereafter (= n., Life in the Hereafter. Life ahead in the future after the physical death here. Next life. See 002:005c. A/t/a, ‘Hereafter (Day of Resurrection)’
  • حَبِطَتۡ — Ha-bay-taut — Destroyed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Amounted to nothing. Became vain. Came to naught. Destroyed. Failed. Lost. Ruined. Spoiled. Turned fruitless. Wasted. A/t/a, ‘vain are,’ ‘are vain,’ ‘are in vain,’ ‘vain is,’ ‘vain and void are’ and ‘are fruitless’ but all those nouns are no translations of the verb in the Holy Qor-aan text)
  • اَعۡمَالُ — Au-maa-lo — Good deeds (= n., plural of … Act; action; deed, doing; effort; hard work; performance, practice, rendition; work. A/t/a, ‘deeds,’ ‘woks’ and ‘do’)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They, them or those persons)
  • هَلۡ — Haul — Can (= Word asking a question like are, can, could, do, did, have, had, shell, should, what, will, would, etc. A/t/a, ‘Are they,’ ‘Can they,’ ‘Can they expect,’ ‘they shall only,’ ‘will the people’ and ‘shall they not’)
  • يُجۡزَوۡنَ   Yooj-zao-na — They rewarded (= v., pres., pass., pl., 3rd person. Awarded. Bestowed. Compensated. Given back. Paid. Recompensed. Reimbursed. A/t/a, ‘be rewarded,’ ‘will be requitted, ‘requited,’ ‘be recompensed’ and ‘to be rewarded’)
  • اِلَّاۤ — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; besides; but; except; excluding; nothing but; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘only,’ ‘for anything except’ and ‘aught save’)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= All that; what; whatever; whatsoever. See Note 004:067. A/t/a, ‘what,’ as,’ ‘according to that which,’ ‘according to (the nature of) ‘according to what,’ and ‘according to’)
  • كَانُوۡۤا — Kaa-noo — Had been (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to;  went on; were doing. Words ‘has or had always been’ indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. See 002:011. A/t/a, ‘used to’ and  ‘they have’)
  • يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ  — Yau-ma-loo-n — They doing (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Acting. Doing. Performing. Practicing. Rendering. A/t/a ‘do.’ But the past tense as in ‘they did,’  ‘wrought’ and ‘done,’ or noun as in ‘deeds,’ have not translated the Holy Qor-aan text in the present tense)
