The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                               007:065

 

فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَاَنۡجَيۡنٰهُ وَالَّذِيۡنَ مَعَهٗ فِى الۡفُلۡكِ وَاَغۡرَقۡنَا الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا‌ ؕ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا قَوۡمًا عَمِيۡنَ

 

Fa  kauz-za-boo  ho
Fa  aun-jai-naa  ho  wa  ul-la-ze-na  ma-aa  hoo  fee  il-fool-kay
Wa  augh-rauq-naa  ul-la-ze-na  kauz-za-boo  bay  aa-yaa-tay  naa
In-na   hoom  kaa-noo  qao-maun  aa-mee-n 

              

Then they belied him.
Then We saved him and those with him in the ship.
And We drowned all those who had belied Our signs.
They surely were blind people.

 

  • فَ  — Fa — Then (= Consequently; so; thereafter; therefore; then; thus; yet. A.t/a, ‘But’)
  • كَذَّبُو — Kauz-za-boo — They belied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Belied; contradicted; denied; derided, denounced, disowned, disproved; falsified; opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. Accused of or charged with falsehood. Treated as liars. A/t/a, ‘rejected,’ ‘called … a liar,’ ‘accused … of falsehood,’ ‘charged … with falsehood,’ ‘they (to whom he delivered His messages) cried lies to,’ ‘denied,’ ‘did not believe’ and ’regarded … as an imposter’)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the prophet Noah)
  • فَ — Fa  — Then (= Thus; so. See فَ above. A/t/a, ‘And’)
  • اَنۡجَيۡنٰ — Aun-jai-naa — We saved (= v., past., pl., 1st person. Protected; recovered; rescued. The past tense verb for single 3rd person is converted into that of plural 1st person as explained in Note 001:007. A/t/a, ‘delivered’ and ‘rescued’)
  • هُ —  Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid prophet)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender)
  • مَعَ — Ma-aa — With (= Alongside; also; as well; along with; besides; following; furthermore; in addition; in the company of; likewise; moreover)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid prophet)
  • فِى — F… (il) — In (= Among. Inside a person or place. See Note 002:028)
  • الۡفُلۡكِ — Fool-kay — Ship (= n., s., Boat; navigation; vessel. A/t/a, ‘Ark,’ ‘the Ark (from the deluge’ and ‘ship’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ   above. A/t/a, ‘but’)
  • اَغۡرَقۡنَا — Augh-rauk-naa — We drowned (= v., past., pl., 1st person. Sunk; dragged down below water. The past tense verb for single 3rd person is converted into that of plural 1st person as explained in Note 001:007. A/t/a,  ‘caused to de drowned’ and ‘overwhelmed in the flood’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. See  ٱلَّذِينَ  above)
  • كَذَّبُوۡا — Kauz-za-boo — They belied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. See  كَذَّبُوۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘denied,’ ‘rejected,’ ‘cried lies’ and ‘disbelieved’)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • اٰيٰتِ — Aa-ya-tay — Signs (= n., pl of an argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, prof, sign, suggestion,  symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘Signs,’ ‘tokens,’ ‘revelations’ and ‘Ayat )
  • نَآ  — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Ours; Us)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘indeed,’ ‘surely’ and ‘Lo!’)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • كَانُوۡا — Kaa-noo — Had been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘were’)
  • قَوۡمًا — Qao-maun — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; nation; party; people; tribe. A/t/a, ‘folk’ and ‘men’)
  • عَمِيۡنَ — Aa-mee-n — Blind (= adj., With no sight or vision. A/t/a, ‘spiritually blind’)
