The Holy Qor-aan 002:068
.
وَاِذۡ قَالَ مُوۡسٰى لِقَوۡمِهٖۤ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَاۡمُرُكُمۡ اَنۡ تَذۡبَحُوۡا بَقَرَةً ؕ قَالُوۡآ اَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوۡا ؕ قَالَ اَعُوۡذُ بِاللّٰهِ اَنۡ اَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡجٰـهِلِيۡنَ
.
Wa iz qaa-la moo-saa lay qao-may he
Inna ul-laa-ha yau-mo-ro koom un tuz-ba-hoo ba-qa-ra-ton
Qaa-loo aa tut-ta-khay-zo naa ho-zo-waa
Qaa-la aa oo-zo bay il-laa-hay un aa-koo-na may-na ul-jaa-hay-lee-n
.
And call to mind when Moses announced to his people,
“Surely Allah orders you that you sacrifice a cow.”
They said, “Do you make a mockery of us (= Are you kidding us)?”
He (Moses) replied, “I seek protection of Allah that I be among the ignorant.”

- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- اِذۡ — Iz — When (= Behold; call to mind, recall; remember or think of the time,
event, occasion, opportunity or time)
- قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He announced (= v., past, s., m., 3rd person. Called; commanded; told; conveyed; declared; directed; informed; instructed;
mandated; ordered; specified; stated; said)
- مُوۡسٰى — Moo-sa — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah)
- لِ — Lay — To (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; towards)
- قَوۡمِ — Qao-may — People (= Addressees; attendees; followers; folks; nation)
- هٖ — He — His (= pro., s, m., 3rd person. Here the reference is to Moses)
- اِنَّ — In…(nul) — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; truly; verily)
- ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- يَاۡمُرُ — Yau-mo-ro — Orders (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Authoritatively instructs; commands; dictates; directs; lays down; mandates)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Here the reference is to the Israelites بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly this way generally)
- اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
- تَذۡبَحُوۡا ً– Tuz-ba-hoo — You sacrifice (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Kill an animal in Gods’ name to please God; slaughter)
- بَقَرَةً — Ba-qa-ra-ton — Cow (= n., Mature female cow; a vegetarian quadruped just older than a heifer; one of the oxen)
- قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person: All those men exclaimed, asked; inquired; queried; questioned)
- أ — Aa — Do (= Question mark like Are? Can? Do? Shell? Will?)
- تَتَّخِذُ — Tut-ta-khay-zo — You make (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Catch; consider; construe; joke; jest; put in; seize; take or treat)
- نَآ — Naa — Us (= pl., Pronoun refers to First person. Us all)
- هُزُوۡا — Ho-zo-waa — Mockery (= Funny humiliation; jest; joke; laughing stock; ridicule)
- قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He replied (= v., past, s., m., 3rd person. Called; commanded; told; conveyed; declared; directed; informed; instructed; mandated; ordered; specified; stated; said)
- اَعُوۡذُ — Aa-oo-zo — Ask protection (= v., pres., s., 1st person. Commit to a higher power’s care; crave and pray; wish for God’s protection, guard and refuge) *
- بِ — B…(il) — With (= This Arabic word literally means ‘with)
- اللهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; the One Only worthy of worship)
- اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
- اَكُوۡنَ — Aa-koo-na — Be (= v., pres., s., 1st person. Become a part of; join the category of)
- مِنَ — Me-n…(ul) — From Among (= Among, from or out of a class, category, count or kind. Among, from or out of several persons or things)
- الۡجٰـهِلِيۡنَ — Ja-hay-lee-n — Ignorant (= Foolish; unlettered; unschooled; unsophisticated)
*Note 002:068: The phrase اَعُوۡذُ بِاللّٰهِ is translated as God-forbid or Heavens forbid as well. The concept of invoking the protection of Allah has been repeated (see our Commentary Repetitions in the Holy Qor-aan have benefits) in several verses including the following.
a. Against the ignorant people – 002:068
b. Against the Satan, the discarded – 003:037
c. Against the Satan, the discarded – 016:099
d. Against all kinds of evil created – 113:002
e. Against all types of whispering – 114:002

The Holy Qor-aan 003:048

قَالَتۡ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُوۡنُ لِىۡ وَلَدٌ وَّلَمۡ يَمۡسَسۡنِىۡ بَشَرٌ ؕ قَالَ كَذٰلِكِ اللّٰهُ يَخۡلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُؕ اِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمۡرًا فَاِنَّمَا يَقُوۡلُ لَهٗ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ
Qaa-lut-rub-bay-un-na-ya-koo-no-lee-wa-la-doon Wa-lum-yum-sus-nee-ba-sha-roon Qaa-la-ka-zaa-lay-kaul-la-ho-yaukh-lo-qo-maa-ya-shaa-o Izaa-qa-dzaa-um-run Fa-in-na-ma-ya-qoo-lo-la-hoo-koon-fa-ya-koo-n.
She said, “God, how can there be a son for me And no man will touch me.” He said, “Like this Allah creates what He wills. When He has decided about a matter Then He certainly says to it, “Be.” Then it is done.
See how the Holy Qor-aan has used the following Phrase Koon-fa-ya-koon several times
* Note 003:048. Some translations have made a serious mistake. The words لَمۡ يَمۡسَسۡنِىۡ are in the present participle form and show the contemplated action to be in the present tense or will occur in the future. Those words do not reflect that the action has already occurred in the past. That is why the translation ‘have not touched’ or ‘have not had’ conjugal relations is incorrect. Such incorrect translation is also contrary to and below the piety and virtuous dignity of a Prophet’s mother.
