The Holy Qor-aan 007:142
وَاِذۡ اَنۡجَيۡنٰكُمۡ مِّنۡ اٰلِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَسُوۡمُوۡنَـكُمۡ سُوۡٓءَ الۡعَذَابِ ۚ يُقَتِّلُوۡنَ اَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ وَ يَسۡتَحۡيُوۡنَ نِسَآءَكُمۡ وَفِىۡ ذٰ لِكُمۡ بَلَاۤ ءٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ عَظِيۡمٌ
Wa iz aun-jai-naa koom min aa-lay phir-auo-na
Ya-soo-moo-na koom soo-aa ul-aa-zaa-bay
Yo-qaut-tay-loo-na aub-naa-aa koom
Wa yaus-tauh-yoo-na nay-saa-aa koom
Wa fee zaa-lay-koom ba-laa-oon
Min raub-bay koom aa-zee-m
And when We rescued you from the followers of Pharaoh
Inflicting on you the worst kind of punishment
Taking life of your sons
And giving life to your women
And in that for you was a trial
From your Most Glorious God.

- فِرۡعَوۡنَ — Phir-auo-na — Pharaoh (= The dictatorial monarchs of Egypt who were known for being awfully arrogant, extremely boastful, pride-stricken, vanity-rich and with big ego. See 002:050. A/t/a, ‘Pharoah’s’ and ’Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh)’
- يَسُوۡمُوۡنَ — Ya-soo-moo-na — They inflicting (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Afflicting; hurting; imposing; oppressing; punishing; setting up; subjecting. A/t/a, ‘who subjected … to,’ ‘who afflicted … with,’ ‘were afflicting … with’ and ‘who had oppressed’ but that in the past tense is no translation of the present tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)

- يُقَتِّلُوۡنَ — Yo-qaut-tay-loo-na — They taking life (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Inflicting a slow, drawn out, painful and torturing process of beheading, crucifying, killing, murdering, putting to death, slaughtering or slaying. A/t/a, ‘slaughtering,’ ‘slaying,’ ‘killing,’ ‘gradually went on killing’ and ‘putting … to death.’ But ‘slew’ in the past tense is no translation of the present tense of the Holy Qor-aan text)

- ذٰلِكُمۡ — Zaa-lay-koom — For you in this (= This word is a combination of three words. The first ذٰ (zaa) means here, this fact or person who is right here, this or that is how it is, etc. The second لِ (lay) means for, belonging to, or is meant for. The third كُمۡ (koom) is [pro., pl., m., 2nd person] a pronoun for the plural, masculine in 2nd person means You. The combination means this or that is for you. - عَظِيۡمٌ –Aa-zee-m — Most Glorious (= adj., Superlative form indicates the greatest, highest, and that none more than Him is Glorious, Magnificent, Great, Greatest, Awesome, Mighty and Tremendous. See Note 001:001. A/t/a, ‘great,’ ‘tremendous’ and ‘momentous’)
