The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                             007:084

فَاَنۡجَيۡنٰهُ وَاَهۡلَهٗۤ اِلَّا امۡرَاَتَهٗ ‌ۖ كَانَتۡ مِنَ الۡغٰبِرِيۡنَ‏

Fa  aun-jai-naa  ho  wa  ah-la  hoo  il-la  um-ra-aa-to  hoo
Kaa-naut  may-na  ul-ghaa-bay-ree-n

So We extracted him and his family except his wife.
She had been among the laggers.

• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; so; thereafter; therefore; then; thus; yet
• اَنۡجَيۡنٰ — Aun-jai-naa — We extracted (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Protected; recovered; rescued; saved. The past tense verb for single 3^rd person is converted into that of plural 1^st person as explained in Note 001:007. A/t/a, ‘We delivered,’ ‘We saved’ and ‘We rescued’)
• هُ — Ho —  Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to aforesaid Prophet Lot)
• وَ —  Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
• اَهۡلَ — Ah-la — Household (= n., The term household includes man’s wife, children and dependents who live with him. A/t/a, ‘household,’ ‘followers,’ ‘family’ and ‘kinsfolk’)
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to aforesaid Prophet Lot)
• اِلَّاۤ — Il-laa … (um) — Except (= Except; saving. A/t/a, ‘save’)
• امۡرَاَتَ — Aum-ra-aa-to –Wife  (= n., s., Female human. Woman. A/t/a, ‘wife’)
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to aforesaid Prophet Lot)
• كَانَتۡ — Kaa-naut — She had been (= v., past., s., f., 3^rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘was’ and ‘chose to be’)
• مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — Among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several. A/t/a, ‘of’ and ‘one of’)
• الۡغٰبِرِيۡنَ — Ghaa-bay-ree-n — The laggers (= n., pl., Those who chose to remain and stay behind. Back-benchers. Laggers. Non-Conformists. Resisters. Thwarters. A/t/a, ‘who lagged behind,’ ‘who  remained behind,’ ‘who remained behind (in the torment),’ ‘who stayed behind’ and ‘who were destroyed’)

وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ قَالُـوۡۤا اَخۡرِجُوۡهُمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡيَتِكُمۡ‌ ۚ اِنَّهُمۡ اُنَاسٌ يَّتَطَهَّرُوۡنَ

Wa  maa  kaa-na  ja-waa-ba  qao-may  he   il-laa  aun  qaa-loo
Aukh-ra-joo  hoom  min   quar-ya-tay  koom
In-na  hoom  o-naa-soon
Ya-ta-yauh-ha-roo-na

And no answer was of his people except that they said,
“Expel these people from your town.
They surely are people thinking that way
They cleanse themselves.”

• قَوۡمِ — Qao-may — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; nation; party; people; tribe)
• هٖۤ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
• اِلَّاۤ — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; besides; excluding; nothing but; save;  unless. A/t/a, ‘other than,’ ‘only’ and ‘but’)
• اَنۡ — Aun — That (= So that)
• قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3^rdperson: All those men announced,  called, declared or told. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘they said’ and ‘They said (one to another)’
• اَخۡرِجُوۡ — Aukh-ray-joo — You expel (= v., pres., pl., 2^nd person. Banish; drive out; exile;  force or get them out. A/t/a, ‘expel,’ ‘turn … out,’ ‘drive … out’ and ‘banish’)
• هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘them (- Lot and his followers)’ and ‘him and his followers’)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
• قَرۡيَتِ  — Qaur-ya-tay — Town (= n., s., City, colony, habitat, hamlet, population center, town, township or village where many people live together)
• كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., m., 2^nd person., You all men)
• اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘surely’ and ‘for’)
• هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘they are’ and ‘these are’)
• اُنَاسٌ — O-naa-soon — People (= n., pl., Factions; groups; tribes; nations. A/t/a, ‘men,’  ‘a people’ and ‘folk’)
• يَّتَطَهَّرُوۡنَ  — Ya-ta-tauh-roo-na — They cleanse themselves (= v., pres., pl., 3^rd person. Acting clean, holy and pious. Striving for purification. Attempting to be, remain or stay clean, physically and spiritually. Trying as if it can anoint, purify or sanctify them and get rid of their dirty ideas or body impurities. A/t/a, ‘They like to be accounted pure.’ But the nouns as in ‘who want to be clean and pure,’ ‘who aspire to purity,’  ‘who would keep pure,’ ‘who take pride in their purity,’ ‘who show off to be pure,’ ’who keep themselves clean,’ ‘forsooth, who keep pure,’ ‘who want to be pure from sins’ and ‘who would keep chaste’ is no translation of the verb in the Holy Qor-aan text)

فَاَخَذَتۡهُمُ الرَّجۡفَةُ فَاَصۡبَحُوۡا فِىۡ دَارِهِمۡ جٰثِمِيۡنَ‏

Fa  aa-kha-zaut  ho-mo  or-rauj-fa-to
Fa  aus-ba-hooo  fee  daa-ray  him  ja-thay-mee-n

Then a shaking caught them
So they became flattened in their home.

Both verse 007:079 and 007:092 are the same

• فَ  — Fa — Then (= Consequently; so; thereafter; therefore; then; thus; yet. A/t/a, ‘Thereupon’)
• اَخَذَتۡ — Aa-kha-zaut — Caught (= v., past., f., 3^rd person. The feminine gender word الرَّجۡفَةُ  that follows narrows this word to mean … drew, got, grasped; hit, pounded, overtook, smote, struck or took. In some contexts it means a) absorbed, comprehended confirmed, obtained, received, realized, understood, or b) arrested, caught, held, detained, grabbed, punished or seized. A/t/a, ‘seized,’ ‘took them unawares,’  ‘overtook’ and ‘felled’)
• هُمُ — Ho-mo … (or) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. Those men; they)
• الرَّجۡفَةُ — Rauj-fa-to — Shaking (= n., f/g., Jarring, jolting, juddering, quaking, rattling, rocking, shuddering, trembling, vibrating or wobbling as is experienced in an earthquake. A/t/a, ‘earthquake’ and ‘a shocking catastrophe’)
• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; so; thereafter; therefore; then; thus; yet)
• اَصۡبَحُوۡا — Aus-ba-hoo — Became (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Literally the word mean ‘morning found them.’ Fell. Gyrated. Reduced.  Revolved; Rotated. Turned. A/t/a, ‘they lay … in the morning,’ ‘morning found them,’ ‘when morning came,’ ‘they were,’ ‘they lay’ and ‘fell’)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Among. Inside a person or place. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ’upon’)
• دَارِ — Daa-ray — Home (= n., s., Abode; dwelling; house; mansion; residence. A/t/a, ‘the ground.’ But the plural in ‘homes,’ ‘abodes,’ ‘dwelling places’ and ‘dwellings’ has not  translated the singular in the Holy Qor-aan text)
• هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
• جٰثِمِيۡنَ — Jaa-thay-mee-n — Flattened (= n., pl. Fallen flat on face. Compressed; crumpled; crushed; decked; felled; flattened; floored; levelled; poleaxed; rumpled; trodden; wrinkled. Lay ‘Dead as a doornail.’ A/t/a, ‘motionless bodies,’ ‘prone upon the ground,’ ‘lifeless,’ ‘they were,’ ‘(dead) prostrate,’ ‘prostrate,’ ‘prostrate upon the ground’ and ‘lying prostrate’)
