The Holy Qor-aan 007:077

قَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡۤا اِنَّا بِالَّذِىۡۤ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ بِهٖ كٰفِرُوۡنَ‏

Qaa-la ul-la-ze-na us-tuk-ba-roo in-na
Bay il-la-ze aa-maun-toom bay he kaa-fay-roo-n

Those who acted arrogantly said, “Surely we
Are disbelievers in that you have believed.”

قَا لَ — Qaa-la … (ul) — Said (= v., past, s., m., 3^rd person. Announced; broadcast; called; conveyed; declared; specified; told. See 002:031. A/t/a, ‘said (scornfully)’
ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3^rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender)
اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا — Aus-tauk-ba-roo — Acted arrogantly (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Acted arrogantly. Behaved boastfully. Bragged haughtily. Deemed himself too big and proud. Pride-stricken. Puffed with pride. Scorned. Smug or smitten with complex. Took pride. Egotist and vanity rich. A/t/a, ‘The arrogant party,’ ‘were arrogant,’ ‘were haughty,’ ’the haughty,’ ‘were scornful’ and ‘considered themselves great and strong’)
اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= This combines two words. The first word اِنۡ (in) means absolutely, certainly, positively, surely or verily; the second word نَآ (naa) means we, us or our; and together the word اِنَّا (in-naa) combines both meanings. اٰمَنۡتُمۡ — Aa-maun-toom — You Believed (= v., past., pl., 2^nd person., Believed in the Holy Qor-aan, became Moslems and entered in the Faith of Iss-laam. A/t/a, ‘ye believe’ and ‘you believe,’ but such statement in the present tense is no translation of the past tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)
بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ means with)
هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to the aforesaid Faith. A/t/a, ‘which’)
كٰفِرُوۡنَ‌ۘ — Kaa-fay-roo-n — Disbelievers (= n., pl. Those who denied, disbelieved, disclaimed, failed to acknowledge, lacked Faith, rejected Iss-laam and God Almighty, or were thankless and ungrateful. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. The Holy Qor-aan 007:074

وَاِلٰى ثَمُوۡدَ اَخَاهُمۡ صٰلِحًا‌ ۘ قَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ اعۡبُدُوۡا اللّٰهَ مَا لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ اِلٰهٍ غَيۡرُهٗ‌ ؕ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكُمۡ بَيِّنَةٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ‌ ؕ هٰذِهٖ نَاقَةُ اللّٰهِ لَـكُمۡ اٰيَةً‌ فَذَرُوۡهَا تَاۡكُلۡ فِىۡۤ اَرۡضِ اللّٰهِ‌ وَلَا تَمَسُّوۡهَا بِسُوۡٓءٍ فَيَاۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَ لِيۡمٌ‏

Wa aiy-laa tha-moo-da aa-khaa hoom saa-leh
Qaa-la yaa qao-may aiy-bo-doo l-laa-ha
Maa la koom min aiy-laa-hin ghai-ro ho
Qaud jaa-aut koom buy-yay-na-toon min raub-bay koom

Haa-zay he naa-qa-ta ul-laa-hay la koom aa-ya-toon
Fa za-roo haa tau-ko-lo fee aur-dzay il-laa-hay
Wa laa ta-maus-soo haa bay soo-in
Fa yau-kho-za koom aa-zaa-boon aa-lee-m

And We sent to Thamud their brother Saaleh.
He said, “Listen my people! Worship Allah.
No god to worship is for you other than Him.
You have a clear guidance come from your God.

Here in the form of a camel is a sign of Allah for you.
So leave it that it eats from the land of Allah
And do not touch her with anything bad
For then a painful punishment will catch you.”

صٰلِحًا‌ ۘ — Saa-lay-haun — Saa-leh (= n., The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a, ‘Salih’)

Next twelve (12) words are repeated in verses 007:060, 007:066, 007:074 and 007:086

The Holy Qor-aan 007:073

فَاَنۡجَيۡنٰهُ وَالَّذِيۡنَ مَعَهٗ بِرَحۡمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَ قَطَعۡنَا دَابِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا‌ وَمَا كَانُوۡا مُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ

Fa aun-jai-naa ho wa ul-ze-na ma-aa hoo
Bay rauh-ma-tin min naa
Wa qa-tau-naa daa-bay-ra ul-la-ze-na
Kauz-za-boo bay aa-yaa-tay naa
Wa maa kaa-noo moe-may-nee-n

Then We rescued him and those who were with him
With mercy from Us
And We cut off the following of those
Who belied Our Signs.
And they were not Believers.

قَالَ قَدۡ وَقَعَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ رِجۡسٌ وَّغَضَبٌ‌ؕ اَتُجَادِلُوۡنَنِىۡ فِىۡۤ اَسۡمَآءٍ سَمَّيۡتُمُوۡهَاۤ اَنۡـتُمۡ وَاٰبَآؤُكُمۡ مَّا نَزَّلَ اللّٰهُ بِهَا مِنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍ‌ؕ فَانْتَظِرُوۡۤا اِنِّىۡ مَعَكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡمُنۡتَظِرِيۡنَ‏

Qaa-la qaud wa-qa-aa aa-lai koom
Min raub-bay koom rij-soon wa gha-za-boon

Aa to-jaa-day-loo-na nee fee aus-sa-maa-in
Saum-mai-to-moo haa aun-toom wa aa-baa-o koom
Maa nauz-za-la ul-laa-ho bay haa min sool-taa-nin

Fa aun-ta-zay-roo in-nee ma-aa koom
May-na ul-moon-ta-zay-ree-n

He said, “Surely fell upon you
From your God is impiety and anger.

Do you argue with regarding names
Only you and your forefathers have named
With it Allah has not revealed any authority.

So you wait. Certainly I am with you
Among those who wait for the outcome.

قَالُـوۡۤا اَجِئۡتَنَا لِنَعۡبُدَ اللّٰهَ وَحۡدَهٗ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعۡبُدُ اٰبَآؤُنَا‌ ۚ فَاۡتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ‏

Qaa-loo aa jae-ta naa lay nau-bo-da
Al-laa-ha wauh-da hoo wa na-za-ra
Maa kaa-naa yau-bo-do aa-baa-o naa
Fa au-tay-naa bay-maa ta-aiy-do naa
In koon-ta may-na us-saa-day-qee-n

They said, “Is that you came to us for us to worship
Allah, the One God, and we leave
What our forefathers have been worshipping.
Then come to us with (= bring) what you have threatened us
If you were among the truthful.”

اَوَعَجِبۡتُمۡ اَنۡ جَآءَكُمۡ ذِكۡرٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ عَلٰى رَجُلٍ مِّنۡكُمۡ لِيُنۡذِرَكُمۡ‌ ؕ وَاذۡكُرُوۡۤا اِذۡ جَعَلَـكُمۡ ۚ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ قَوۡمِ نُوۡحٍ وَّزَادَكُمۡ فِى الۡخَـلۡقِ بَصۜۡطَةً‌‌ فَاذۡكُرُوۡۤا اٰ لَۤاءَ اللّٰهِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ

‏

Aa wa aa-jib-toom aun jaa-aa-koom zik-roon
Min raub-bay koom aa-laa ra-jo-lin min koom
Lay yoon-zay-ra koom

Wa uz-ko-roo iz ja-aa-la koom kho-la-faa-aa
Min bau-day qao-may noo-hin
Wa zaa-da koom fee il-khaul-qay baus-ta-taun

Fa uz-ko-roo aa-laa-aa ul-laa-hay
La-aul-la koom toof-lay-hoo-n

And are you surprised that a Reminder came to you
From your God upon a man among you
So that he warns you

And remember when He made you representatives
After the people of Noah
And increased you in population abundantly

So remember the blessings of Allah
So that you prosper.

اُبَلِّغُكُمۡ رِسٰلٰتِ رَبِّىۡ وَاَنَا لَـكُمۡ نَاصِحٌ اَمِيۡنٌ

‏

O-baul-lay-gho koom ray-saa-laa-tay raub-bee
Wa aa-na la koom naa-say-hoon aa-meen

I deliver to you my God’ messages
And I am for you a very trustworthy adviser.

قَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ لَـيۡسَ بِىۡ سَفَاهَةٌ وَّلٰـكِنِّىۡ رَسُوۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ

‏

Qaa-la yaa qao-may lai-sa bee sa-faa-ha-toon
Wa laa-kin nee ra-soo-loon min raub-bil-aa-la-mee-n

He said, “My people! There is no foolishness in me;
But I am a Messenger from the Lord of the Universe.”

Except for one word ضَلٰلَةٌ in verse 007:062 and سَفَاهَةٌ in verse 007:068, the verses are identical

رَّبِّ — Raub-bay — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all creatures. Cherisher. Creator. Guardian. Lord Provident. Master. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ — Aa-la-meen — The Universe (= n., pl., As an attribute of God Almighty the word implies no limits. It means the Universe, all His creations, all that exists in whole Universe, all that has life, and Mankind. See Note 001:002. A/t/a, ‘worlds,’ ‘Creation’ and ‘Alamn (mankind, Jinn and all that exists’)

The Holy Qor-aan 007:067

قَالَ الۡمَلَاُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡ قَوۡمِهٖۤ اِنَّا لَــنَرٰٮكَ فِىۡ سَفَاهَةٍ وَّاِنَّا لَــنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ الۡـكٰذِبِيۡنَ‏

Qaa-la ul-ma-la-o ol-la-ze-na ka-fa-roo min qao-may he
In-naa la na-raa ka fee sa-faa-ha-tin
Wa in-naa la na-zoon-no ka may-na ul-kaa-zay-bee-n

The leaders who disbelieved from his people said,
“We surely see you in a foolishness
And we think you are among the liars.”

Next seven (7) words are repeated in four (4) verses except for
كَفَرُوۡا in 007:067 & 007:091 and اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا in 007:076 & 007:089

قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past, s., 3^rd person. Announced; broadcast; called; conveyed; declared; informed; explained; specified; told. See also 002:031)
الۡمَلَاُ — Ma-la-o — The leaders (= n., pl., Bosses; chiefs; family-heads; gurus; heroes; generals; people in the forefront. A/t/a, ‘leading men,’ ‘chiefs,’ ‘chieftains’ and ‘elders’)
ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3^rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘of’ and ‘who’)
كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — They disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3^rd person. Denied, refused or rejected the Faith and belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan, Iss-laam and become Moslem. For more meanings see our Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘disbelieving,’ ‘unbelieving’ and ‘ unbelievers’)
مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘from among’ and ‘of’)
قَوۡمِ — Qao-may — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; nation; party; people; tribe)
هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= This combines two words. The first word اِنۡ (in) means absolutely, certainly, positively, surely or verily. The second word نَآ (naa) means we, us or our. Together the word اِنَّا (in-naa) combines both meanings. A/t/a, ‘Lo!’)
لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely, doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily A/t/a, ‘Most surely’)
نَرٰ ى — Na-raa — We see (= v., pres., pl., 1^st person. Notice; observe; watch. A/t/a, ‘we see,’ ‘we … see,’ ‘we regard’ and ‘we can see’)
كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2^nd person. You single male. A/t/a, ‘thou art,’ ‘thee’ and ‘you’)
فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Among. Inside a person or place. See Note 002:028)
سَفَاهَةٌ — Sa-faa-ha-tin — Foolishness (= n., Absurdity. Folly. Foolhardiness. Foolishness. Futility. Idiocy. Impudence. Insanity. Irrationality. Lacking common sense. Recklessness. Senselessness. Silliness. Stupidity. A/t/a, ‘involved in foolishness,’ ‘lost in foolishness,’ ‘in foolishness’ and ‘in folly.’ But saying that you are ‘of unsound mind,’ ‘a foolish man’ and ‘an imbecile’ is inaccurate translation of the Holy Qor-aan text that had pinpointed a specific characteristic and not the person of the messenger)
وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘and in fact’ and ‘and what is more’)
اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= ‘we certainly.’ See اِنَّا above)

الۡكٰذِبِيۡنَ‏ — Kaa-zay-bee-n — The liars (= n., pl., Those who lie so much that even their faces tell that they are lying. A/t/a, ‘the liars’ and ‘one of the liars.’ But the singular as in ‘a liar’ and the verb as in ‘you are lying’ are no translations of the plural noun in the text of the Holy Qor-aan)

The Holy Qor-aan 007:066

وَاِلٰى عَادٍ اَخَاهُمۡ هُوۡدًا‌ ؕ قَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ اِلٰهٍ غَيۡرُهٗ ؕ اَفَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَ‏

Wa aiy-laa aa-din aa-khaa hoom
Qaa-la yaa qao-may ay-bo-doo l-laa-ha
Maa la koom min aiy-laa-hin ghai-ro hoo
Aa fa laa taut-ta-qoo-n

And to Aad We sent their brother Hoo-od.
He said, “Listen my people! Worship Allah.
You have no god to worship other than him.
Then why don’t you become pious?”

وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘And … We sent’ )

هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
هُوۡدًا‌ — Hoo-daun — Hoo-od (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a, ‘Hud’ and ‘Houd’)
