The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                       002:016

 

اَللّٰهُ يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ بِهِمۡ وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ فِىۡ طُغۡيَانِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُوۡنَ○‏

 

Aul-laa-ho  yaus-tauh-zay-o  bay  him  wa  ya-mood-do  hoom
Fee  toogh-yaa-nay  him  yau-ma-hoo-n 

 

Allah mocks at them and increases them
In their contumacy, they wandering blindly.

 

  • اللّٰهُ — Aul-laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ — Yus-tauh-zay-o — Mocks (= v., pes., s., 3rd person. Derides; jests; jokes; kids;  laughs; makes others fool; repays their joking and kidding by punishing them; ridicules; throws back)
  • بِ — Bay — At (= Normal translation of the word بِ is with but here the meanings are conveyed better with ‘at’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., in 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid foolish persons and hypocrites)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; moreover; though; when; while; whereupon; yet)
  • يَمُدُّ — Ya-mood-do –Increases (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Adds. Expands. Extends. Increases. Multiplies. Opens. Spreads. Stretches. Widens. A/t/a, ‘Is now,’ ‘Extend,’ or ‘soon will’ give a long rope to increase, lengthen, prolong, spread, stretch or widen their entrenchment in sin and evil ways)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They; theirs. See  هِمۡ  above)

  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Inside. Within.  See Note 002:028)
  • طُغۡيَانِ — Toogh-yaa-nay — Contumacy (= n., Agitation. Bad behavior. Contumacy. Insurrection. Inordinacy. Insolence. Revolution. Stubbornness. Rebellion. Transgression. Upheaval. Uprising. Violation;. Wrongdoing)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They; theirs. See  هِمۡ  above)
  • يَعۡمَهُوۡنَ — Yau-ma-hoo-n — Wandering blindly (=v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Baffling. Bewildering. Blundering. Going round and round without going anywhere; making progress or seeing something solid)
