2 Words of Emphasis used together multiply Effect

An Arabic ‘Word of Emphasis’ as obvious is a word that emphasizes its intended objective.  See ‘Arabic Grammar -103 Questions Answered.’  Such constructions aim at creating an extreme emphasis.

One unique feature of the Arabic language is to join together or place successively in the same one clause or verses “Two Words of Emphasis” with the same or very similar meanings. Used very frequently are اِنَّ , اَنّ , لَ and قَدۡ . The literal equivalents of them all in the English include ‘absolutely, categorically, certainly, clearly, definitely, doubtlessly, earnestly, indeed, in all seriousness, in all sincerity, obviously, really, positively, specifically, surely, truly or verily.’

Translating them literally as ‘certainly certainly or definitely definitely” is not the normal English. Translating them accurately in English is best when done as ‘most certainly’, ‘most definitely’, etc. Translating them like that is also appropriate as shown by the several following examples.

Examples of joining اِنَّ and لَ
The following in 002:075 and others like in 002:131, 002:144, 002:147, 002:150, 003:063, 003:079, 003:097, 004:073, 092:005, 100:007, 100:008; 100:009, 100:012; 103:003, etc.

  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely doubtlessly)
  • مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
  • الۡحِجَارَةُ — He-jaa-ra-tay — Stones (= Hillsides; mountains; rocks)
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — That (= All that; what; whatever; any time; when; whenever)
  • يَتَفَجَّرُ — Ya-ta-fuj-ja-ro — Burst out (= Gush forth; gush out; rivers take their course out of)

  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= Lays emphasis as by absolutely; categorically; certainly; definitely, doubtlessly; for sure; in spite of; positively;  specially; specifically; verily; without a doubt)
  • فَقَدِ — Fa-qa-d..(if) — Then surely (= Combination of two words. The first word is فَ [= fa]  meaning after all this, at the end, consequently, finally, hence, in conclusion, resultantly so, then, thereafter, therefore or thus, The second word is قَدۡ [= qud] meaning absolutely, assuredly, categorically, certainly clearly, definitely, doubtlessly, for sure, obviously, positively, specially, specifically, surely, verily or with no doubt whatsoever)

** Note 004:049. The word فَقَدۡ  or فَقَد  is a combination of two words. The first word فَ [= fa] means after all this, at the end, consequently, finally, hence, in conclusion, resultantly so, then, thereafter, therefore or thus,  The second word is قَدۡ [= qud] means absolutely, assuredly, categorically, certainly clearly, definitely, doubtlessly, for sure, obviously, positively, specially, specifically, surely, verily or with no doubt whatsoever. ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنٰكُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَوۡتِكُمۡ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏

                 Thoom-ma-ba-uth-naa-koom-min-bau-day-mao-tay-koom-la-ul-la-koom-tush-ko-roo-n.

        Then We raised you  after your stupor so that you be grateful.

  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently; thereafter)
  • بَعَث — Ba-uth — Raised  (= Appointed; brought back to life; brought back to the land of living; reincarnated; resurrected; revived; set up)
  • نَآ — Naa — We  (= pro., pl., 1st person. Us. Used with God’s name it reflects the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Refers to the Israelites)
  • مِّنَ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of a class, category, count or kind. Among, from or out of several persons or things)
  • بَعۡدِ — Bau-day — After (= After departure; behind; in absence; later; subsequently

ذٰ لِكَ الۡڪِتٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَۛۚۖ فِيۡهِۛۚ هُدًى لِّلۡمُتَّقِيۡنَۙؕ

Zaa-lay-ka  ul-kay-taa-bo  laa  rai-ba  fee  hay   ho-daun  lay  il  moot-ta-qee-n

This is the Book … No doubt … in it … Guidance for the Righteous

  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka … (ul) — This (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that is how it is)
  • الۡڪِتٰبُ — Kay-taa-bo — The Book (= n., s., 1. The Decreed part of a religion. The Divine  Directive of Commandments, Prohibitions, Rules and Regulations. The Holy Scriptures. The Perfect Bok. The Testament that holds good and is operative eternally.  The Spiritual Code codifying the rules of universal application.  2. The Collection of mandated, ordered,  prescribed, preserved, recorded or written do’s and don’ts.  3. Authentic penned down material in black and white)

  •  لَا– Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation)
  • رَيۡبَۛ — Rai-ba — Doubt (= n., Absence of faith. Dubious. Dubitable. Element of dispute. Grey area. Inadequacy. Incomplete. Open to suspicion. Something lacking or missing. Uncertainty. Unclear)
  • فِىۡ  — Fee — In (= Contained in or amidst a duration, event, time, place, period, thing or situation; inside. Also, concerning; for the sake of;’ in reference to; pursuant to; regarding; relative to. See Note 002:028)
  • هِۛ — Hay — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Ref is to the Book, the Direction)
  • هُدًى– Ho-daun … (lay) — Guidance (= n., The action, direction, instruction, means, measure,  method, pointer or set up showing the best beacon, correct course, enlightened entry, linear lines, proper path, right road, wise ways or the knowledge about what is the best. The criteria judging things appropriately.  The way of life that the Creator chose for all He created. See Commentary Islam – 101)
  • لِّ — Lay … (il) — F or  (= For benefiting those who are, intend, pursue or try to be)
  • لۡمُتَّقِيۡنَۙؕ — Il-moot-ta-qee-n — The righteous (= n., pl., Those who avoid angering Allah, become God-fearing, pious and righteous, clean their inner self, do duty to God, guard against and ward off evil’. See Commentary The Righteous for more meanings) 

 

** Note 002:003a. Arabic language mushrooms from its words which are Roots. Each Root produces many words which are derivatives. Each derivative can be in any one of the forms like verbs, nouns (Baab for single or ab-waab for plural), adjectives, adverbs or others recognized in other languages.

Correctly translating any Arabic word requires knowing all those basics. Failure to know the basics invariably result in mistranslation.

A derivate verb may in addition to its form be (a) in the active voice or passive voice, (b) in the past tense, present tense or future tense, (c) of masculine gender or feminine gender and (d) for 3rd, or 2nd or 1st person.

Important things required to correctly translate any of the above words are as follows.

  1. The Fatha on top, Kasra under or Zomma above the last letter of words قُلۡتَ , قُلۡتِ and قُلۡتُ precisely shows their different meanings.
  2. The text precisely shows how the same word قُلۡتُما means “You Two males” or “You two females.”
  3. The word قُلۡنَ means “All females in the 3rd person said” and that precisely differs from the word قُلۡتُنَّ which means “All females in the 2nd person said.”
  4. The last letter ا distinguishes  قَالَا  from  قَا لَ  and  قُلۡنَاۤ  from  قُلۡنَ and what precisely each word means.

 

** Note 002:003b. Our Commentary Punctuations and Vowels shows how disregarding a punctuation alters the essence, message and result of a written communication.   To understand a message it is essential to abide by a punctuation indicating where to pause.   The two clauses ‘No doubt’ and ‘In it’ in this verse have punctuations for specific purposes.   It is imperative to know the effect of such punctuations for anyone who translates a scripture.   All translators, interpreters or extrapolators must follow them to translate the verse correctly.   Connecting such punctuations with antecedent clause or precedent clause changes meanings.   How big can the difference be is best illustrated by taking the same words in two sentences.   Relocating the coma in Stop, not let go and Stop not, let go produces the opposite meanings.   Moving the coma ahead one word and reading it by pausing there makes a huge difference.   It would be okay if it stays at a scholarly difference but that is not shown in Moslem history.   Conflicts don’t arise if the Holy Qor-aan is read correctly by following the punctuations.  See The Holy Qor-aan and Different Translations.

2 Pronouns referring to the same person when combined create extreme emphasis And the same effect when one Pro & 1 Verb are joined together

 

The English grammar does not recognize a sentence combining the equivalent of two pronouns together. A construction like ‘He boy came’ or ‘She girl went’ is not acceptable in English – leave alone to use such an expression for creating an emphasis. Oddities like this make translating a foreign work difficult.

But the Arabic language has the unique feature to create extreme emphasis in following two ways.
1. Placing together two pronouns successively. Examples: كَ and اَنۡتَ  002:033) has an exact equivalent in English by saying ‘You and Only You.‘ And اِنَّهٗ هُوَ (= inna-hoo-ho-wa) (002:038) has an exact equivalent in English by saying ‘He and Only He.’
2. Placing after a pronoun a verb with one of its several variations that practically duplicates the prior pronoun. Examples: اَنۡتُم تَتۡلُوۡنَ (un-toom-tut-loona) (002:045) will in English be ‘You are the very people who read it.’ And اَنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ (un-toom-tau-la-moon) (002:023 and 002:043) will in English be “You are the very people who know full well.”

Following and many other examples in the Holy Qor-aan illustrate the above uniqueness of Arabic.

o The third word اَنۡتَ (= unta) is also a pronoun (= s., m., addressee in 2nd person) that refers to you.
o A phrase duplicating two pronouns like كَ and اَنۡتَ lays a tremendous emphasis on the person highlighted. Thus إِنَّكَ أَنتَ (= inna-ka-unta) means “You the One and the Only One and no one else like You” qualifies for the adjectives that follow this phrase.

تُمۡ — Toom — You all (= pro., pl., m., addressees in 2nd person) refers to “you all men”.

o The first word كُنۡ (=koon) means ‘have been’.

** Note: The phrase هُمۡ يُوۡقِنُوۡنَ (hoom-yoque-noon) consists of two words.
o The first word هُمۡ (= hoom) is a pronoun that refers to ‘all those’ in masculine gender.
o The second word يُوۡقِنُوۡنَ (=Yoo-qe-noon) is a verb showing the act ‘of bearing an absolute conviction’ done by ‘them all’ (= pro., pl., m., addressees in 3rd person).
o When a pronoun points to a person, and is followed by a verb which with one of its 14 variations refers to an action by that person, the two-worded phrase so created lays an extreme emphasis on the stated action. Thus the phrase هُمۡ يُوۡقِنُوۡنَ (hoom-yoque-noon) means ‘They really are the people with a wholesome conviction without any shadow of doubt‘.
o Examples of this kind including this verse are found in 002:005; 002:013; 002:014; 002:023; 002:033; 002:034, 002:038; 002:043; 002:045 and other places in the Holy Qor-aan.

Qor-aan, The Most Read Book

The Holy Qor-aan – The Most Read Book In The World

  1. The revelation of the Holy Qor-aan was started with “Read with the name of your God” (096:002) to benefit the whole mankind. Teaching “with the pen” and the prayer “add to my knowledge” (020:115) foretold the future about to unfold. The reading and writing accelerated multiplying knowledge exponentially. It doubled all prior human knowledge every 25 years.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan for the last 1500 years has been read in almost every country by a large majority of Moslems at least once in their lifetimes. Millions in the last 15 centuries committed the whole of it to their memory and recited all of it every week. 1.7 billion Moslems in the world today are taught since childhood to read some part of it daily, and many of them do that.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan has been translated wholly in several languages and in parts in almost every language spoken on the globe. Records, cassettes, audios, videos and electronic devices play its reading and recitation daily in almost every country. Billions of teachers and students have discussed and dissected its teachings in mudrassas, schools and Universities in the world.
  1. In Trillions of disputes, cases and controversies the judges and jurists, and in academic situation the academia and critics, have interpreted and extrapolated its Commandments and Prohibitions in all kinds of legal and social issues, spiritual and temporal environments, personal and familial matters. That fact alone makes the Holy Qor-aan the most read Book in the world.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan illustrates from the natural phenomenon around us that God Almighty created them for a purpose and not in vain (003:192), providing rules of universal application to benefit and not harm man. Sun shines and warms; light travels in straight line; gravity pulls; and all of us whether believers or not are bound to abide by and subject to live with those realities.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan guides all people (014:002), teaches all that is best for mankind, and resolves all situations (017:090) for all times in the past, present and future. It gives the factual account of historical events and exhorts man to learn from them for history always repeats itself.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan describes the precedents of those gone by (002:141). It prepares man today to benefit from the best and avoid all the rest. It enumerates every element of humanism in man’s personal, familial and social life. It repeats teachings and historical narrations in different scenarios lighting them up from all sides as if under the floodlights from several angles.
  1. The Holy Qor-aan is the vehicle. God Almighty has set man for a ride on his evolution trajectory where he will eventually reach as destined. It is in Arabic language (041:004) where some words have 20 different meanings. Man is endowed with the ease to learn it (054:018). He has the flexibility to interpret reasonably, but not to exceed that inappropriately (054:004).
  1. The Holy Qor-aan states the truth but empowers man to make choices and equips him with the intellect to draw conclusions for himself and evolve the right road for his human village. History shows total failure of those succumbing to absurdities, falsehoods or poor judgments, or attempting to limit, twist or circumvent its teachings to any locality, community or timeframe.

Repetitions in Qor-aan have benefits

Repetitions in the Holy Qor-aan have benefits

The revelation of the Holy Qor-aan started with the word  اِقۡرَاۡ  that meant “You Read” (096:002). It was foretold to be a Book that the Lord God of the Universe had revealed (o56:081), written down in black and white (052:003), in a secure document form (085 023), would be read again and again (056:078), understood well (043:004), preserved (056:079), touched only by the pious (056:080 ) and guaranteed to be protected by the Almighty God who had revealed (015:010) it. The Holy Qor-aan consists of words, words written down. No wonder Words Matter.

Several parts of the verses were revealed repeatedly in different contexts for the obvious benefits. The part وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ [wa-mul-laa-ho-bay-ghaa-fay-lin-um-maa-tau-ma-loon]  meaning “And Allah is not unmindful of all that you do” was revealed as a part of verses that include 002:075, 002:086, 002:141 and 002:150.  Then the last word تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ (tau-ma-loon) meaning “you” was substituted with the word يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏  (yau-ma-loon) meaning “they” in the verses including 002:145.  The cumulative effect is that you and all others must know that Allah watches everything everywhere all the time and nothing is ever hidden from Him and He has definite reasons why a thing is happening in a certain way.

Sometimes the same exact words used in different set-ups convey different shades of a concept and to translate them with one meaning despite changed underlying scenarios is not right. The Holy Qor-aan illustrates this phenomenon repeatedly. The same last five words in verses 002:134 and 002:137 mean differently. The verse 002:134 is an advice and a wish that Abraham and later Jacob gave to their sons centuries before the advent of Islam telling them to remain ‘submissive’ to God’ – not as the adherents of a religion that was not there. The verse 002:137 is a Command addressed to a reader of the Holy Qor-aan after the advent of Islam clearly telling to ‘be a Moslem’ as an adherent of Islam.

A very similar situation is stated in the words   صِّرَاطَ  and  مُسۡتَقِيۡمَ .  Those words are used in the verse 001:006 as man’s prayer to be put on the proper path and shown the right road.  Those words are repeated in the verse 002:143 and 006:040 as God’s gift to anyone He chooses by putting him on the proper path or showing him the right road.”

The repetition in the Holy Qor-aan of words, phrases and even concepts some of which overlap, cover or are linked with other issues have distinct benefits. They by repeating again and again create a clearer, deeper impression on readers’ minds. They facilitate their readers to translate them correctly for a better understanding of them. They produce vivid pictures of the teachings described in them by their frequent repetition. They cause instant recollection of the prior precedents in relevant situations and scenarios. They lead to a far fuller comprehension of entire surroundings, not just the instant context. They help to memorize the content and enable the memorizer to practice that at all times. They enable a researcher to see others’ conclusions about them to evaluate the real impact. They prepare the reader to face and deal with similar facts but with other considerations. They bring to their readers the spirituality they can’t find in any publication anywhere else. They create fresh ideas to coup with harsh realities of life.

Similarly at least five following sets of words in verse 002:141 have appeared in other verses. Some words and phrases just reiterated the events and teachings provided elsewhere. Some conveyed different shades of a concept like being under floodlights of a different color. Some illuminated another side of the object not shown earlier in the light that came from a single angle. But put together they all show that Repetitions in the Holy Qor-aan have benefits.
The first 2 words (starting with ( اَمۡ ) are repeats in verse 002:081.
The 9 words (starting with ( اِبۡرٰهٖمَ ) are repeats in verse 002:137.
The 3 words (starting with ( هُوۡدًا ) are repeats in verses 002:112 and 002:136
The 4 words (starting with ( وَمَنۡ ) are repeats in verse 002:115.
The last 7 words (starting with (وَمَا اللّٰهُ) are repeats in the verses 002:075, 002:086, 002:150, etc.

اَمۡ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اِنَّ اِبۡرٰهٖمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ وَالۡاَسۡبَاطَ كَانُوۡا هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰى‌ؕ قُلۡ ءَاَنۡـتُمۡ اَعۡلَمُ اَمِ اللّٰهُ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ اَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنۡ كَتَمَ شَهَادَةً عِنۡدَهٗ مِنَ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏

Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes

And who is more unjust than him who concealed evidence he had from Allah.
And Allah is not unmindful relative to what you do.”

  • 002:081 posed a question اَمۡ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ exposing the ignorance of those to whom it was put.
  • 002:137 presented in 10 words what was common among many named prophets.
  • 002:112 and 002:136 highlighted the superiority claim of هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰى‌.
  • 002:115 produced the format to show extremely unjust behavior by asking         وَمَنۡ اَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنۡ .
  • The last seven (7) words are repeated in several verses including 002:075, 002:086, 002:141 and 002:150.   The last word تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ  (tau-ma-loon) meaning “you do” is in this verse.   But the last word يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ (yau-ma-loon) meaning “they do” is in verses   002:145.

قُلۡ اَ تُحَآجُّوۡنَـنَا فِى اللّٰهِ وَهُوَ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّکُمۡۚ وَلَنَآ اَعۡمَالُـنَا وَلَـكُمۡ اَعۡمَالُكُمۡۚ وَنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُخۡلِصُوۡنَۙ‏

                Qool-aa-to-haaj-joo-na-naa-fil-laa-hay–wa-ho-wa-rub-bo-naa-wa-rub-bo-koom–wa-la-naa-au-maa-lo-naa-wa-la-koom-au-maa-lo-koom–wa-nuh-no-la-hoo-mookh-lay-soon.

                Say, “Do you argue with us regarding Allah?   And  He is our God and your God.  And for us are our deeds.  And for you are your deeds.  And we are and forever remain devotees to Him.

صِبۡغَةَ اللّٰهِ ‌ۚ وَمَنۡ اَحۡسَنُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ صِبۡغَةً - وَّنَحۡنُ لَهٗ عٰبِدُوۡنَ‏

                 Sib-gha-tul-laa-hay–wa-mun-ah-sa-no-me-nul-laa-hay-sib-gha-ton–wa-nuh-no-la-hoo-aa-be-doon.

                The religion from Allah! And who is better than from Allah in giving a religion. And we are and forever remain worshipers for Him.

فَاِنۡ اٰمَنُوۡا بِمِثۡلِ مَآ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ بِهٖ فَقَدِ اهۡتَدَوْا ‌ۚ وَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَاِنَّمَا هُمۡ فِىۡ شِقَاقٍ‌ ۚ فَسَيَكۡفِيۡکَهُمُ اللّٰهُ ‌ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡعَلِيۡمُؕ‏

Fa-in-aa-ma-noo-be-mith-lay-maa-aa-mun-toom-bay-he
Fa-qa-daih-ta-dao
Wa-in-ta-wul-loo-fa-in-na-maa-hoom-fee-she-qaaq
Fa-sa-yuk-fee-ka-ho-mool-laa-ho
Wa-ho-wus-sa-mee-ool-aleem.

Then if they believed like what you believed
Then they are on right road. 
And if they turn away, then they are in a misfortune
So Allah will soon suffice you against them. 
And The Only One He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end of; hence; in the final analysis; thus; thereafter; therefore; yet)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= If situation arises; in case; under the circumstances)
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They believed (= v., past, pl. Had sincerely, totally and wholeheartedly believed in the Holy Qor-aan and accepted Islam. 2. Admitted, affirmed, approved, confirmed, concurred corroborated, embraced, entered, evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have become Moslems)
  • بِ — Bay — With / In (= The literal equivalent of this word in English is ‘with’. But here it is also appropriate to translate it as ‘in’)
  • مِثۡلِ — Mith-lay — Like (= Duplicate; identical in nature; just like; the same way; resembling; similar; substitute. Of the same kind, looks quality, shape or type. Of comparable recital)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever)
  • اٰمَنۡ — Aa-mun — Believed (= v., past, pl. Had sincerely, totally and wholeheartedly believed in the Holy Qor-aan and accepted Islam. 2. Admitted, affirmed, approved, confirmed, concurred corroborated, embraced, entered, evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have become Moslems))
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pl., m., 2nd person.   You.   The Holy Qor-aan states this way when the addressees are both men and women)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= By means of; with the instrumentality of )
  • هٖ — He — That (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to ‘what you believed in’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so, therefore. See فَ  above for more meanings)
  • قَدۡ — Qa-d…(aih) — Surely (= Lays emphasis. Absolutely; categorically; certainly;
    definitely, doubtlessly; for sure; in spite of; positively; specially; specifically; verily; without a doubt)
  • اهۡتَدَوْا — Aih-ta-dao — On right road (= Found, put or placed on correct course, proper path, linear line or way. Guided aright. Rightly guided)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= If situation arises; in case; under the circumstances)
  • تَوَلَّوۡاْ — Ta-wul-lao — Turn away (= v., Change direction. Compromise the truth. Go in a different or the opposite direction. Deviate from the right path. Ignore. Pay or give no heed. Reverse. Slide back. Take wrong road. Turn back)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so, therefore. See فَ  above for more meanings)
  • اِنَّمَا — In-na-maa –Certainly (= The phrase (inna-maa) consists of two words.   The first word اِنَّ (inna) means ‘absolutely, certainly, earnestly, doubtlessly, indeed, in all seriousness, positively, truly really, surely or verily.’   The second word مَاۤ (= maa) means ‘all that, what, whatever, whatsoever.’   The two words اِنَّ and مَاۤ joined in a phrase اِنَّمَا (= inna-maa) lay great emphasis on the information highlighted and make the statement that follows it ‘absolutely and positively the most accurate’)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to ‘those turned away’)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained inside or amidst a duration, event, time, place, period, thing or situation; regarding; relative to)
  • شِقَاقٍ‌ — She-qaaq — Misfortune (= n., Break; division; gulf; hard luck; obstinacy; schism; opposition; split unfortunate situation.  Adversarial ties)
  • فَ — Fa — So (= Hence; so, therefore. See فَ  above for more meanings)
  • سَ — Sa — Soon (= In near term or future; in a short while; quickly; swiftly)
  • يَكۡفِيۡ — Yuk-fee — Suffice (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. With س   before it, the word means … will be adequate, ample, appropriate, enough, plenteous, proper, satisfactory, sufficient, suitable or fully capable and in control)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person.  You.  See Note to 002:005 )
  • هُمۡ‌ — Ho-mo…(ol) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Points to the people who ‘turned away’
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa … (us) — He, The One (= pron., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • ٱلسَّمِيعُ — Sa-mee-o..(ol) — All-Hearing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him hears the best. See 001:001. Most Hearing. The Hearer. Hears all wholly, entirely, surely, totally and truly. Real Hearer. The One from Whom nothing is ever missed or out of hearing)
  • الۡعَلِيۡمُ — Aleem — All-Knowing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest ,the most, and highlights that none more than Him knows. See 001:001. Informed to the maximum. The One with the total knowledge and nothing out of sight. Knows all. Most Knowledgeable. Well-Acquainted. Well-Aware)
