** Note 002:050. Pharoah imposed upon the Jewish people a scheme to inflict extreme humiliation. God Almighty eventually removed it as a blessing. The Holy Qor-aan has told the story in verses 002:050, 007:132 and 014:007. The verbiage differs slightly are shown below.

  1. The word وَ  is there before the word اِذۡ  at the beginning of all three verses. But it is not there when the word  اِذۡ   appears for the 2nd time in verse 014:007.
  2. The word وَ  precedes the word  يُذَبِّحُوۡنَ in verse 014:007 but is not there in 002:050 nor before the word  يُقَتِّلُوۡنَ  in verse 007:142.
  3. The blessing of Jewish rescue is worded as  نَجَّيۡنٰ  in verses 002:050, as  اَنۡجَيۡنٰ  in verse 007:142, and as اَنْجٰ in verse 014:007.
  4. The word  يُذَبِّحُوۡنَ  is used in verses 002:050 and 014:007 but the word  يُقَتِّلُوۡنَ  is used instead in verse 007:142.

The repeated message was that God Almighty had greatly blessed the children of Israel by rescuing them from the cruel clutches of Pharaoh and abjectly humiliating conditions

The Moslems were warned (Commentary Religions, Are Jews and Moslems alike) that the rule applied to all who behaved like Jews and any rescue would nevertheless take a period of humiliating torment.

* Note 002:046.  The Command اسۡتَعِيۡنُوۡا بِالصَّبۡرِ وَالصَّلٰوةِ (Seek God’s help with perseverance and prayer) was mandated for the Children of Israel (002:046).    Later exactly those words came down for Moslems (002:154).   Obligating Moslems to five daily prayers can be inferred from 002:154, but not from 002:046 as it is a part of an historical account that started by addressing the Children of Israel (002:041 to 002:097).    Some of those 56 verses did tell Moslems to avoid specified malpractices by earlier nations but primarily they are addressed to the Children of Israel by reminding them as is summarized in our Commentary ‘Are Jews and Moslems alike- 002:046?’.
