Qor-aan, Islam and Mohammed Relationship

Islam, Qor-aan, Mohammad s.a.w and their mutual relationship is often misunderstood by those who are not Moslems and even by many Moslems. Comprehending correct relationship between these three components appropriately by placing them in proper perspective is a must to end any confusion that a serious students of Islam may have.

Mohammad s.a.w was a human being but sent as a Messenger to all people (007:159, 014:002, 034:029) . He was of the progeny of Abraham – the Excellent Exemplar (060:005) and the Great Prophet who came before the coming down of (003:066) Torah that led to Judaism and Bible that led to Christianity. Each of these two men Abraham and Mohammad (peace on them) were born of one man and his wife, ate food, married, procreated, prayed (see our Commentary Prayers) for things they and the people at large needed. Both died like human beings do.

The Holy Qor-aan is the collection (075:018) of revelations of God’s words (026:193, 056:081, 069:044). It was sent down piecemeal (025:033). The Arch-angel Gabriel brought it under God’s decree and inspired into the heart, mind and soul of Prophet Mohammad s.a.w (002:098, 026:194) who verbalized it (069:041 and 081:020).

The Holy Qor-aan stated the name of Holy Prophet Mohammad s.a.w four times (003:145, 033:041, 047:003, 048-030) but laid down hundreds of Commandments to addressees in ‘2nd person’ starting with the wordقُلۡ (qool = see our Commentary “You say means) or ending with the pronoun كَ (ka = you single male – 002:005). The singular ‘primary’ addressee in ‘2nd person’ is generally translated as “O Muhammad” s.a.w since he received the Holy Qor-aan, represented all humans as their Universal Leader, was blessed with the Apex of Prophet-hood (033:041), and was an Excellent Model, the Best Exemplar (033:022).

The scope of the Holy Qor-aan is very broad. It was revealed for all people (010:003, 014:002). By ‘proxy’ its Commandments apply to every Moslem and ‘reader’ who seriously try to understand, practice and preach this Divine Message. The caveat to remember is that the Holy Qor-aan will remain well-guarded (015:010) as a wholly saved template (085:023) that offers a generous reading (056:078) in a fully preserved Book (056:079) that none touch (= learn and benefits by practicing) except (those who are or seek becoming) the Cleansed (056: 080).

Islam is the religion – the Spiritual Code and the Way of Life – comprised of teachings laid down in the Holy Qor-aan. It is the perfection of the Religion just as God pleased (005:004), the ensemble in one Book of Commandments and Prohibitions, rules and regulations which spelled out conducts which are either preferable or under specified circumstances detestable. The Holy Prophet s.a.w as the Best Exemplar set up precedents by (a) personal practices (Sunnah) of what the Holy Qor-aan provided and (b) quotations (Ahaadeeth) to guide where no situation had yet arisen to implement a course of action. This total embodiment of the Divine rules is Islam, the real way for humans to live as chosen by their Creator (003:020) Who won’t accept any other life-style (003:086). Islam literally means ‘surrender’ to God’s will and ‘peace’ by practicing its principles which a person develops inwardly and dispenses to those around him outwardly.

The site trueteachingsofislam.com is devoted to calling towards Islam (041:034). The figures in parenthesis refer to the chapter and verse numbers. See Commentary The Beginning.

Qor-aan – Spiritual Guidance Book

The Holy Qor-aan – Spiritual Guidance Book

The Holy Qor-aan is the Book of divine rules for spiritual guidance. It is the eternal Code that God designed for man and includes that was revealed to earlier prophets. The reason to reveal only part of the Code to every prior prophet was man’s still-evolving intellect. Each prophet was entrusted with what man then could comprehend regarding the spiritual matters. And upon the human intellect evolving fully the whole Code was given to the Holy Prophet s.a.w. All divine rules are consolidated and condensed in the perfected Book (005:004), the Holy Qor-aan. No surprise that “The Holy Qor-aan – The Most Read Book In The World” enlightens man’s soul.

The Holy Qor-aan is the single source for supplying all human needs of past, present and the future. It repeats rules of universal application and always shows the results of following or flouting them. Its principal concerns indisputably are the spiritual aspects as explained in the Notes under 021:113. But a spiritual guidance is incomplete if it fails to shed light on how man is to live his life on earth. It tells of birth, marriage, divorce, inheritance, society, governance and coexistence in a balance. It makes man visualize characteristics of being good or bad to prepare him for his life in hereafter. Plenty of promises about the Paradise and warnings about the Hell are to keep us on the right road. Good people find all good things they can think of covered in it, exemplified by the Best Exemplars Abraham was Best exemplar (060:005) – See Commentary titled as Abraham was not an idolater. Mohammed s.a.w was the Best Exemplar (033:022) – see Qor-aan, Islam and Mohammed relationship.

The contents of the Holy Qor-aan intend to elevate man spiritually to reach the Almighty God. The Qor-aan is not a history book although it has narrated events to show how divine rules applied. It reports Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed as excellent models of spirituality. It describes the extremes of good and bad to highlight that the middle course is the best for man. It offers prayers to beseech for divine solution to thousands of the needs that man has all the time. It lays down personal, familial and fiscal Commandments and Prohibitions for best human village. It describes what humanism is by giving account of rewards, punishments, nations and prophets. It’s no collection of forecasts but the future keeps materializing that really is for spiritual purposes. It fills believers with physical examples of Scriptures’ spiritual content.

Any materialization of a spiritual content essentially is like the rear-view mirror images a driver sees in a passing moment. The use and utility of the mirror continues until it ends with a breaking or loss of its functionality. All earlier Scriptures were dated but the Holy Qor-aan is for all men (014:002) for all times ahead. That is why man will keep seeing events illustrating some content of the Holy Qor-aan continually. The translators who saw the images as the seers have described them by numerous phraseologies. Some articulated their visions as the true meanings of a verse but others simply added explanation. Most of them honestly admitted that they had just conjectured about the true meanings of a verse. Example: Malik Ghulam Farid re (081:024) wrote, ‘It may mean that…Holy Prophet saw himself.’ Example: Maulana Muhammad Ali said (082:006), ‘Gathering…wild animals seems a prophecy.’ Example: N J Dawood guessed that the (083:020) ‘Is probably related to El Elion in…Old Testament.’ Example: Dr Khan added to the (021:109) “I give you notice (of war as) to be known to us all alike.” See Commentary The Holy Qor-aan – Examples illustrating its Content.

Many verses of the Holy Qor-aan begin with the words اِذَا (ezaa) or وَاِذَا (wa ezaa). They are generally translated with the words any time or event, now that, when or whenever. These words almost invariably imply the meanings of has, has been, have been, is or will be. What is conveyed by the context is the time of the physical happening or material occurrence. It could be to bring or call to mind, recall or think of an event which happened in the past. Or, it could be to show right there some fact to be seen, observed or witnessed in the present. Or, that could be to forecast a prophecy about a phenomenon that will happen in the future. Or, it could tell that two or more of those periods will show physical examples of the content.

The Holy Qor-aan has named several natural elements including the sun, moon, stars, sky and earth. Most earlier verses cited them as witnesses because the naked human eye could see them easily. The concept regarding the good or bad that led to the paradise or hell let man see the importance. Majority of the translators concur that its content drew the attention of man to spiritual realities. Some have clearly differed in their translations from the Arabic words to the English equivalents. But personal choice of words in extrapolation never reduced or diluted the spiritual values set up. The consistency to convey the intent in the original text has remained the hallmark of translations. Most translations that attempted to accentuate or minimize the impact of content did in good faith. Even an unfortunate intentional mistranslation of the Holy Qor-aan still upheld its spiritual aspects. A critic, disbeliever, hypocrite or opponent who alleged a fault could do that only in a translation. The Holy Qor-aan itself indicated that in the subject-matters of verses like 002:027, 002:062, etc. Indeed the Almighty God revealed the Holy Qor-aan and forever guaranteed its safety (015:010). Its content warns like a buoy of dangers lurking ahead and gives its reader what he is looking for. Nothing of its contents has ever been or will ever be Abrogated, canceled or minimized.

                Kul-laa–bul–raa-na-alaa-alaa-qo-loo-bay-him-maa-kaa-noo-yuk-se-boon

The context shows whether it is conveying the (a) doing of  good honest work or (b) doing of bad acts, cheating, committing evil deeds, delivering defective products, rendering poor services, or performing other work fraudulently as in this case of 083:015)

* Note 083:015. It appears to be a combination of two words. The first word رَا (raa-a) means ‘appeared, looked, noticed, observed, saw or watched.’ The second word نَآ (naa) means ‘We or Us’ (= pro., pl., 1st person) and refers to God. When used for God it reflects the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate. The combination indicates the ‘left over, mark, proof, residue, rust or stain an earlier act.’ So the whole verse could mean, “We see their hearts rusted with what they used to do.”

The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:016                ○  كَلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمۡ عَنۡ رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ لَّمَحۡجُوۡبُوۡن َ‌ؕ

A/t/a debarred disentitled, dismissed, disinherited, kept away, prevented, prohibited or limited, restricted or ousted from God’s compassion, forgiveness, light, mercy or sight of Almighty God)

** Note 083:016. Really a sinners’ own sinning will veil him from seeing God. Some translations instead of using the literal meanings of this word chose differently They preferred ‘debarred, disentitled, disinherited, dismissed or kept away from ‘God’s light.’ The implication was that these sinners must never get God’s blessings, forgiveness or grace. To them the people ‘treating God’s signs as a fiction of the past ‘merit perpetual punishment.’ But the Almighty has declared (004-049) that only idolatry is one sin that He won’t forgive. The concept to hold said sinners not ‘allowed to even see’ God really conveys a human trait. It applied the rule of ‘Enemy of my friend is my enemy’ to deprive them of God’s Blessings. The accurate thing to say seems to be that their acts will veil them from getting God’s Grace. See or Commentary ‘Praying for others.’

15. The fact, however, is that rust is on their hearts due to what they had been earning
16. The fact most certainly is that they on that day will be veiled from seeing their God
17. Then most certainly they will enter in the Hell
18. Then it will be said, “This is with what you used to deny.”
19. Most certainly the fact is that the record of the righteous is in Illeeyeen
20. And who will tell you what is Illeeyoon
21. It is a written record
22. Those closest to God will see that
23. Most certainly the righteous will be in bliss
24. On the couches seated and seeing everything around

30. Certainly those who had sinned used to laugh at those who had believed
31. And when they passed by them, they would wink
32. And when they (sinners) returned to their family they returned rejoicing
33. And when they saw them (believers) they said, “Most certainly here are real losers.”
34. And they (sinners) were not sent as guardians over them (believers).
35. So this day those who believed will be laughing at the disbelievers
36. On the couches seated and seeing everything around
37. Have the disbelievers been rewarded for all that they used to do?

Qor-aan – Examples illustrating its Content

The Holy Qor-aan – Examples illustrating its Content

The Holy Qor-aan is the Code for the best human conduct. It regulated the conduct 15 centuries ago. It provides guidance today. It will enlighten the way in future. By examples it shows its teachings (The Holy Qor-aan – The Most Read Book In The World) produce top quality results.

The events exemplifying its contents have occurred throughout the history. Some were stated in the Holy Qor-aan because they had already occurred before its time. Some illustrated in the form of current events when a particular translation became public. Some will appear in the future as man continues to make progress in his evolutionary walk. Some of its content is providing illustrations of substantial benefit to mankind every day. Anyone any place can see its teachings producing fruits of their tremendous value to man.

Some translators stated those events as the ‘forecasts’ that came true and substantiated the truthfulness of the Holy Qor-aan. The Tufseer Sagheer at the time of its publication described what then were the discoveries like the cosmic rays, X-rays, laser (055:036), Panama and Suez canals (055:021 & 022), huge ships (055:025), nuclear weapons (070: 009) among others.

Others have underscored them as current examples of the contents of the Holy Qor-aan. The Code illuminating man’s conduct for all times cannot be fathomed, circumscribed or limited by the brain or imagination of any man of any period – of yesterday, today or tomorrow. Who knows what event or occurrence tomorrow will illustrate what part of this Book?

One example is the translation of 081:006 as “when the rivers will be drained away” by Allamah Nooruddin, died 1914. Nobody could at that time predict what the Russians would start doing years later in 1960. Our Note under the aforesaid verse reads as follows.

‘Drained rivers’ or ‘dried lakes’ appear to contradict the above-mentioned meanings.  But there is no contradiction with its real meanings ‘raised’ which also implies ‘drained up.’ Aral Sea is an example; I recall reading (Acknowledgements) about it in the magazine Wired. The article gave details how it had shrunk by many, many miles from its former shore-line. Its photographs showed several ships and boats parked on its dry parched former lake-bed. A PIA pilot who had routinely flown over the lake for years provided a visual confirmation. And a quick search for this section further provided the following quote in the Wikipedia.
“The Aral Sea (Kazakh: Арал Теңізі Aral Teñizi; Mongolian: Арал тэнгис; Russian: Ара́льское море, tr. Aral’skoye Morye; IPA: [ɐˈralʲskəjə ˈmorʲɪ]; Tajik: Баҳри Арал Bahri Aral; older Persian: دریای خوارزم‎ Daryâ-ye Khârazm) was an endorheic lake lying between Kazakhstan (Aktobe and Kyzylorda provinces) in the north and Uzbekistan (Karakalpakstan autonomous region) in the south. The name roughly translates as “Sea of Islands”, referring to over 1,100 islands that once dotted its waters; in Mongolian aral means “island”.[3] The Aral Sea drainage basin encompasses Uzbekistan and parts of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.[4]
Formerly one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 km2 (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea has been steadily shrinking since the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. By 2007, it had declined to 10% of its original size, splitting into four lakes – the North Aral Sea, the eastern and western basins of the once far larger South Aral Sea, and one smaller lake between the North and South Aral Seas.[5] By 2009, the southeastern lake had disappeared and the southwestern lake had retreated to a thin strip at the extreme west of the former southern sea; in subsequent years, occasional water flows have led to the southeastern lake sometimes being replenished to a small degree.[6] Satellite images taken by NASA in August 2014 revealed that for the first time in modern history the eastern basin of the Aral Sea had completely dried up.[7] The eastern basin is now called the Aralkum desert.
In an ongoing effort in Kazakhstan to save and replenish the North Aral Sea, a dam project was completed in 2005; in 2008, the water level in this lake had risen by 12 m (39 ft) compared to 2003. Salinity has dropped, and fish are again found in sufficient numbers for some fishing to be viable.[8] The maximum depth of the North Aral Sea is 42 m (138 ft) (as of 2008).[1]
The shrinking of the Aral Sea has been called “one of the planet’s worst environmental disasters”.[9][10] The region’s once-prosperous fishing industry has been essentially destroyed, bringing unemployment and economic hardship. The Aral Sea region is also heavily polluted, with consequential serious public health problems.”

Another example is the interpretation of 081:008. A forecast “for easy travel by ships” it said. Indeed the ships brought together people of different countries and cultures. But then a rampant growth of the slavery was also a by-product of the same ‘easy travel by ships’. Another sad thing is the recent resurgence of a centuries-old bad practice. See our Note under 08l:008.

Few could have forecast over 18-centuries ago (003:048) that one day man could ‘create from earthen material the things that could heal the ill, infirm and sick’ who then were considered incurable. Now pharmaceutical industry and synthetic medicine are delivering cures to man.

Few could have forecast over 19-centuries ago (003:048) that one day man could ‘create from earthen material a thing looking like a bird’ and ‘blow into it’ and the object will start flying. Yes, man invented the airplane, found the energy of fossil fuel and has not stopped flying since.

Few could have forecast over 20-centuries ago (003:048) that one day man could create from earthen material the things that would see and know from far out what others were eating and storing inside the homes. Computers, Wii-Fi and Drones are enabling man to do that now.

The above events exemplify some content of the Book that God gave us. More things will happen to man in the future. The translators of the Holy Qor-aan will no doubt cite them for illustrative purposes. But those examples will be for their period – to be further expanded or ended, improved or destroyed as man adds to his knowledge (020:115). Yet the content of the Holy Qor-aan is an everlasting ‘App’ – application to keep producing spectacular results.

Arabic Grammar – 5 – Punctuations and Vowels

Arabic Grammar 5

Punctuations and Vowels

  • Abrogation – up to 20% of the Holy Qor-aan stated before the West Pakistan High Court.
  • Caliphate – creating Shiite sects different from the Sunni sects of Moslems.
  • Clerics’ superiority – based upon ‘firmly grounded in knowledge’.
  • Divorce – instantaneous by only men and by thrice pronouncing ‘I divorce thee’.
  • Exclusion from inheritance of the children from a predeceased son or daughter.
  • Hadood – in rape cases excluding DNA evidence for not specifically allowed in Qor-aan.
  • Jehaad / Jihad– when, where, why, who with and how allowed or not.
  • Marriage – invalidity when husband incarcerated or changes religion.
  • Organized religion – founded upon economic and militant power and expansion.
  • Punishment – for a Moortud Moslem who changes his religion in a Moslem state.
  • Punishment – for non-payment of Zakat as 1st Caliph Abu Bakr did by waging war.
  • Punishment – for rape victim if she can’t produce four men giving eye-witness account.
  • Zakat – What percentage is mandatory? When is it due on whose income or saving? How is it to be used besides the obvious use for orphans, needy and wayfarers.

Common in most above issues is disregarding a vowel or punctuation in the original text. The Holy Qor-aan laid down some laws initially but consolidated many cited in earlier scriptures. The above issues came to mind as of this writing but nearly 15-century history shows many more. The initial bifurcation invariably occurred when the Clergy was lured into solving a controversy. Private-ruling-letters are obtained from a tax-collector and used by rich knowledgeable tax-payers. Fut-waa or ‘religious justification’ by money-hungry Clergy are secured and used the same way. Moslem Clergy has yoked its followers with many Ma-saa-il or ‘problems’ to keep them in tow. Corrupt Clergy has organized the uneducated in enslaved sects in one continually fighting mode. The obligation of a non-Moslem to ‘choose’ between accepting Islam, or paying the Juzyah ‘the protection tax,’ or getting ready to be beheaded in a duel, is yet another example which has a Zero basis in Islam but has been practiced by the warring expansionists in the name of Islam.

Arabic language as any other language has its own and vowels. Familiarity with them is essential to understand anything that is spoken or written in Arabic. Studying the written Holy Qor-aan is subject to the effects and impacts of the punctuations. Placing a vowel at a different location often alters the essence and result of an entire writing. One example I had in my earliest exposures to learn the Arabic was which I will never forget. Yes, I have translated it in English so that the readers here can also comprehend the concept. Take a very simple sentence to see the massive impact in it made by relocating only the coma. Reading it as “Stop, not let go” or “Stop not, let go” conveys two totally opposite meanings.

The verses 002:003 reads “This is the Book no doubt – in itguidance for the righteous.”  Punctuations exist before and after the words ‘in it’ for a good reason. Understanding the text depends upon recognizing the impact of those punctuations. Disregarding them could confuse a reader whether to join ‘in it’ with the clause ‘This is the Book no doubt’ that comes before it, or ‘guidance for the righteous’ that comes after it. Accurate comprehension results by joining the words ‘in it’ to both clauses; firstly, as ‘This is the Book no doubt in it’ and secondly as ‘In it is  guidance for the righteous. Thus one sees that the writing in the Holy Qor-aan is very compact.

These different punctuations clearly indicated whether to pause or continue to get the real message. Some translators, interpreters and extrapolators in translating these clauses joined them differently. Connecting a clause with the antecedent or precedent clauses does change the depth of the meanings. It would be okay if it stayed at just a scholarly difference but that is not shown in Moslem history. Conflicts don’t arise if the Holy Qor-aan is read rightly, benignly.

A part of 003:004 was added to 003:005 by disregarding the punctuations which changed the impact of the message also. Our Commentary under 003:005 highlights that phenomenon.

The reading of 003:008 shows a big difference among the innumerable Moslem sects. Is it ‘None knows its interpretation except Allah. And those dug-deep in knowledge say..’ or is it ‘But none knows its interpretation except Allah and those dug-deep in knowledge …’ In the former, the punctuation-forced pause between the words except and Allah says one thing. In the later, the statement continues to link the prior clause with the next in one sentence to say another — palpably setting up the ‘well-grounded in knowledge’ nearly ‘equals’ of Allah which is an idea so repugnant that no Moslem can dare to openly proclaim, profess or practice it. Yet the Moslem Clergy has used this concept for centuries to establish its supremacy and control masses.

Another example of the failure of some authors to understand effect of the punctuation in accurately translating a verse is provided in our Note 005:107.

Disregarding the effects of the vowels and punctuations alters the meanings of the text. The scholars thrive on such alterations as opportunities to show their expertise at interpretations. The adherents blindly follow their leaders and call these alterations of no serious consequence. The unbiased researcher is baffled as the scriptures are said to clearly state the intended message.

The punctuation ؕ equals ‘a period, a stop’ in English; it ends the sentence; it completes the message in the sentence. The punctuation ۙ equals ‘a coma’; it shows that the message is NOT yet complete and more info in the next verse or verses will complete the message.

A translation of 086:009 to 086:011 is an example of producing two meanings that way. 086:009 ends with the punctuationؕ by stating “He has the power to bring him back to life.” 086:010 starts with “On the day when secrets are disclosed” and ۙ continues to the next verse. 086:011 with the ۙ from prior verse continues to “He will then have no strength and no helper.” The two translations when pitched against each other show the difference that speaks for itself.

  • Is it “He (God) has the power to bring him (man) back to life, on the day when secrets are disclosed.” “He (man) will then have no strength and no helper.”
  • Or, is it: “He (God) has the power to bring him (man) back to life.” “On the day when secrets are disclosed, he (man) will then have no strength and no helper.”

The above distinctions are not insignificant hair-splitting. Similar tiny difference cut up Moslems into Sunni and Shiites who have battled each other for 14 centuries killing hundreds of millions Moslems. Often small differences mushroom into clerical jugglery, academic acrobatics or politically exploitable campaigns with huge bones of contentions founding blood-thirsty sects. A doubter needs to just look at the numbers killed in the last few decades only.

  • In Iraq. Shiites bombed Sunni praying in their mosques. Sunnis exploded Shiite mosques.
  • In Pakistan. Shiite bus-load on way to visit their holy places in Iraq/Iran killed by Sunni shooters, and the revenge-killing by Shiites followed soon after. 30+ persons offering pre-dawn prayers in one sect’s mosque gunned down by the fanatics of the other sect; the retaliation was equally brutal. Taliban-organized simultaneous shootings of Ahmadi Fri afternoon prayers in 2 mosques nearly 8-miles apart. Killed 98. Injured many more.
  • In Saudi Arabia. About 200 Shiites created a law and order situation during the Hujj. All killed swiftly under their fast-moving Wahabi judicial decree – all in same one day.
