The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                 007:126

قَالُـوۡۤا اِنَّاۤ اِلٰى رَبِّنَا مُنۡقَلِبُوۡنَ‌ۚ‏

Qaa-loo in-naa  aiy-laa  raub-bay  naa  moon-qa-lay-boo-n 

They said, “We surely are returnees to our Lord.”

• قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3^rdperson: All those men announced,       called, declared or told. See Note 112:002.  A/t/a, ‘They said,’ ‘They answered: what then? In any case,’ ‘They answered,’ ‘They replied’ and ‘They  (however, remained firm and) said’)
• اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= Combines two words. اِنَّ  means ‘certainly, definitely, surely or verily. And  نَآ   means all of us. Joined together the word اِنَّا (in-naa) combines both meanings. A/t/a, ‘For us,’ ‘surely,’ ‘(Never mind), ‘we,’ ‘‘Lo!,’ ’We … surely’ and ‘verily’)
• اِلَى — Aiy-laa — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘to’ and ‘Unto’)
• رَبِّ — Raub-bay — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Lord Provident; Master. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist. A/t/a, ‘Lord’)
• نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1^st person. Our; Us)
• مُنۡقَلِبُوۡنَ‌  — Moon-qa-lay-boo-n — Returnees (= n., pl., Those who turn back, return or revert. A/t/a, ‘but sent back,’ ‘do … return,’ ‘shall … return,’ ‘then shall … return,’ ‘about to return,’ ‘have all to return to … after all’ and ‘are returning’ but all those verbs are no translations of the noun in the Holy Qor-aan text)

وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنۡ أَلۡقِ عَصَاكَ‌ۖ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا يَأۡفِكُونَ

Wa  oo-hai-naa  aiy-laa  moo-saa  aun
Aul-qay  aa-saa  ka  fa  aiy-zaa
Hay-ya  taul-qa-fo  maa  yau-fay-koo-na

And We revealed to Moses that,
“Place your stick down. Then look!
It’s devouring what they fabricate.”

• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; but; moreover; though; when; whereupon; while; yet)
• أَوۡحَيۡنَآ — Auo-hai-naa — We revealed (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. This word is used for a good thing. Commanded. Directed. Disclosed. Dispatched. Gave. Inspired. Intensified, Kindled. Revealed. Roused. Stirred up. The past tense verb for single 3^rd person is converted into that of plural 1^st person as explained in Note 001:007. A/t/a, ‘We revealed,’ ‘We revealed … (saying),’ ‘We sent a revelation,’ ‘We put into … mind By inspiration,’ ‘We inspired,’ ‘We directed’ and ‘We said’)
• إِلَىٰ — Aiy-laa — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. Sometime this word can              also mean for, till or until. A/t/a, ‘to’)
• مُوسَىٰٓ — Moo-saa — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah)
• أَنۡ — Aun — That ( So that. The fact is that)
• أَلۡقِ — Aul-qay — Place (= v., pres., s., 2^nd person. Cast. Drop. Offer. Place down.  Present. Put down. Throw. A.t/a, ‘cast,’ ‘cast down,’ ‘Throw (now),’ ‘Throw’ and ‘to throw down’)
• عَصَا — Aa-saa — Stick (= n., Dang. Rod. Staff. Stick)
• كَ — Ka — Your (= pro., s., m., 2^nd person. You, a single male. A/t/a, ‘Thy’)
• فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; as a result; at the end; consequently; hence; in conclusion; resultantly; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus; yet. A/t/a, ‘and’)
• اِذَا — Aiy-zaa — When (= Any event, occasion, opportunity or time. Also, behold; call to mind; consider; now that; ponder over; recall; reflect, remember; think of. A/t/a, ‘Lo,’ ‘behold’ and ‘look’)
• هِىَ — Hay-ya — It (= pro., s., f., 3^rd person. She. Ref to the stick of Moses. A/t/a, ‘It’ and ‘his staff’)
• تَلۡقَفُ — Taul-qa-fo — Devouring (= v., pres., s., 3^rd person. Eating. Finishing. Gulping. A/t/a, ‘swallows up straight.’ But the past tense in ‘swallowed,’ ‘swallowed up,’ ‘devoured,’ ‘appeared to swallow up’ and ‘swallowed up straight away’ did not translate the Holy Qor-aan text in the present tense)
• مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever. See Note 004:067. A/t/a,  ‘all  … which,’ ‘all that,’ ‘all’ and ‘whatever’)
•  يَأۡفِكُونَ —  Yau-fay-koo-n — Fabricate   (= v., pres., pl., 3^rd person. Bring about. Create an illusion. Magically show. Put up. A/t/a, ‘All the falsehoods which they fake.’ But the noun as in‘their lies,’ ‘their lying show,’ ‘their false devices,’ ‘their false magic,’ or the  past tense as in ‘falsehood which they showed,’ ‘they had fabricated,’ and ‘they feigned’ have not translated the present tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)

قَالَ أَلۡقُواْ‌ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَلۡقَوۡاْ سَحَرُوٓاْ أَعۡيُنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱسۡتَرۡهَبُوهُمۡ وَجَآءُو بِسِحۡرٍ عَظِيمٍ۬

Qaa-la  aul-qoo  fa  laum-maa  aul-qao
Sa-ha-roo  au-yo-naun  na-say
Wa  aus-taur-ha-boo  hoom
Wa  jaa-oo  bay  saih-rin  aa-zee-m

He said, “you place your spell. So when they placed,
They bewitched the eyes of the people.
And they scared them.”
And they had come with a great magic.

• قَا لَ  — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past., s., m., 3^rd person. Announced; called; conveyed; countered; declared; stated or told. See 002:031. A/t/a, ‘He said,’ ‘He [Musa (Moses)] said,’ ‘Said Moses,’ ‘(Moses) said,’ ‘He answered’ and ‘He replied’)
• أَلۡقُواْ — Aul-qoo — You place (= v., pres., pl., 2^nd person. Cast; deliver; drop; hurl; place;  present; put down; throw. A/t/a, ‘Throw ye (first),’ ‘Throw you (first),’ ‘Throw ye,’ ‘throw,’ ‘throw down yours,’ ‘cast,’ ‘you cast,’ ‘you make your cast’ and ‘You may present (first, what you have)’
• فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; as a result; at the end; consequently; hence; in conclusion; resultantly; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus; yet. A/t/a, ‘And’ and ‘so’)
• لَمَّا — Laum-maa — Surely when (= This combines two words. First word لَ (=la) means absolutely, certainly, positively, surely, truly or verily. The second word  ما (= maa) means any time, at such time, when and whenever. See Note 004:067. A/t/a, ‘when’)
• أَلۡقَوۡاْ — Aul-qao — They placed (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Cast; delivered. See أَلۡقُواْ above as that word for the present tense in 2^nd person differs from this word for the past tense in 3^rd person. A/t/a, ‘they cast,’ ‘they made their cast,’ ‘they threw’ and ‘they presented (their devices).’ But ‘Throw you (first)’ in the present tense in 2^nd person has not translated the Holy Qor-aan text with a past tense in 3^rd person)
• سَحَرُوٓاْ — Sa-ha-roo — They bewitched (= v., pres., pl., 3^rd person. Bemused; bewildered; dazed; captivated; confused; puzzled; surprisingly impressed. A/t/a, ‘they bewitched,’ ‘they cast a spell,’ ‘they deceived,’ ‘they enchanted’ and ‘magicians threw down their staffs’)
• أَعۡيُنَ — Au-yo-na … (un) — Eyes (= n., pl., The part of the body used for seeing)
• ٱلنَّاسِ — Naa-say — The people (= n., Factions; folks, mankind, groups of men, nations or tribes. Human beings. A/t/a, ‘of the people’ and ‘the people’s’)
• وَ  — Wa … (us) — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally;     also; but; moreover; though; when; whereupon; while; yet)
• ٱسۡتَرۡهَبُو — Aus-taur-ha-boo — They scared (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Jolted. Scared. Startled. Turned highly respectful like it was a divine spectacle. A/t/a, ‘sought to strike awe into,’ ‘struck Terror into,’ ‘they struck … with awe,’ ‘over awed,’ ‘overawed,’ ‘frightened’ and ‘terrified’)
• هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3^rd person. They; them; those; theirs)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ   above. A/t/a, ‘For’)
• جَآءُو — Jaa-oo — They had come (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Arrived; came; reached; returned.    Also, the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled, sought or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘they showed,’ ‘they produced,’ ‘they displayed,’ ‘brought forth,’ ‘they  came’ and ‘perpetrated’)
• بِ  — Bay —  With (= Literally the word means with. A/t/a, ‘with’ and ‘by’)      
• سِحۡرٍ — Saih-rin — Magic (= n., Deception; enchantment; evil crafts; falsehood; false    impression; illusion; mode of intrigue; sorcery; trickery unreal thing; untruth; witchcraft. A/t/a, ‘magic,’ ‘enchantment,’ ‘spell,’ ‘illusion’  and ‘display’)
• عَظِيمٍ۬ — Aa-zee-m — Great (= adj., Awesome; glorious, great; magnificent; mighty; tremendous. See Note 003:173a. A/t/a, ‘a great,’ ‘a great (feat of),’ ‘a mighty’ and ‘great wonders’)

قَالُواْ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلۡقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُلۡقِينَ

Qaa-loo  yaa  moo-saa  im-maa  aun  tool-qay-ya
Wa  im-maa  aun  na-koo-na  nauh-no  l-mool-qee-n

They said, “Listen Moses! Would it be that you cast spell
Or would it be that we, only we, are Casters of spell.”

• قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3^rdperson: All those men announced,       called, declared or told. See Note 112:002. A/t/a, ‘The magicians said’)
• يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; ‘O’ and ‘to’)
• مُوسَىٰٓ — Moo-sas — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a, ‘Musa (Moses)’
• اِمَّا — Im-maa — Would it be (= This combines two words. The first اِنۡ means If; if situation arises; in case; under the circumstances.” The second  مَا  means All that, what; whatever, whatsoever; when; whenever; which; whichever. The combined word/phrase اِمَّا means In case, if ever, when, whenever the relevant situation arises, or could or would it be. A/t/a, ‘Wilt,’ ‘will’ and ‘Either’)
• أَن — Aun — That (= So that. The fact is that)
• تُلۡقِىَ –Tool-qay-ya — You cast (= v., pres., s., 2^nd person. Cast, hand, show, pour, present or throw. Here ref is to a spell of magic. A/t/a, ‘thou throw (first),’ ‘throw you first,’  ‘thou cast,’ ‘thou throw first,’ ‘you make your cast,’ ‘throw (first),’ ‘you present (first what you have),’ ‘you cast first,’ ‘you throw (first)’ and ‘you first throw down your staff’)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; but; moreover; though; when; whereupon; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘Or’)
• اِمَّا — Im-maa — Could it be (= This combines two words. See اِمَّا above if ever,  when, whenever the relevant situation arises, or could or would it be A/t/a, ‘Shall’)
• أَن — Aun —  That (= So that. The fact is that)
• نَّكُونَ — Na-koo-na — We have been (= v, past., pl., 1st person. Became. Happened. Occurred. Taken or took place or shape. A/t/a, ‘ be,’ ‘have’ and ‘let’)
• نَحۡنُ — Nah-no … (ol) — We (= pro., pl., 1^st person. We; us)
• ٱلۡمُلۡقِينَ — Mool-qee-n — Casters of spell (= n., pl., Those who cast, hand, show, pour, present or throw spells of magic. A/t/a, ‘the first throwers,’ ‘the (first) ones to present,’ and ‘(the first to) cast.’ But ‘The (first) throw,’ ‘the first throw’ and the verb as in ‘cast’ have not translated the Holy Qor-aan text)
